By NICK GASS 06/14/16 06:16 AM EDT
Hillary Clintons advantage over Donald Trump grew over the course of the last week, according to the results of the latest NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll released Tuesday.
In the same week that Clinton clinched the Democratic nomination and Trump continued his criticism of federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel, the former secretary of state leads 49 percent to 42 percent.
Clinton narrowed Trumps lead among men and white voters to single digits over the past week and now leads Trump by 25 points 58 percent to 33 percent among voters describing themselves as moderate. Trump led men by 14 points in last weeks survey but now leads by only 9 points in this weeks poll 51 percent to 42 percent. Among white voters, Trumps lead also shrank to 9 points, 50 percent to 41 percent.

But, but, I keep reading how she's going to get crushed by him and only Bernie can save us?
Course, silly me, I always thought both of them would poll far better than Trump once we got past the primary season and focused on things.

In truth, this far out they are just a snapshot of current public opinion. Of course they can change since November is month's away.

(2,124 posts)Trump is tanking.
His insane response to Orlando should help those numbers continue to go down especially when measured by the thoughtful response by Clinton with specific policy recommendations.

(28,270 posts)He is a birther FFS!
Every time he opens his fat racist hater mouth it creates voters for Hillary!
If the mainstream republicans don't screw him out of the nomination at their convention Trump will destroy their party forever hopefully.

This poll reflects the state of things just BEFORE the massacre. Now the narrative about 'terrorism' is going to rise to the forefront and last for quite a while. Those (like myself) who strongly support gun control are pretty much already going to vote Democratic (or in some cases not vote or vote Green). But 9/11 was successfully milked for a long time, even if most effective in areas and among populations farthest from ground zero. It is a perverse accident of fate that this occurred smack in the middle of the largest of all the swing states
It is amazing from any standpoint of a reasonable world that Trump would and could brag about people "congratulating" him (as he put it) for his stance on terrorism, and his already milking this issue shamelessly, focusing on Islamic immigration. The weakness of the MSM in calling him on these things bodes very ill
For a long time, I have noted that although in the leadup to the Iraq War there was plenty of discussion about jihadi internet chatter obviously gloating at the prospect of the US launching such idiocy, and how it would clearly make many millions across the Islamic world more receptive to jihadism
This election cycle, I would imagine there must be plenty of such internet chatter about Trump. Have we heard jack squat about it from any major quarter, from anywhere in the MSM? Not to my knowledge -- please let me know if you have heard/seen examples of such coverage, w/linx

Of course, Trump is doing this until be becomes the nominee.
After that, he will shift slightly centric, his words will have 6 more months to become commonplace, and many of the Right Wingers will come back to the fold. The better polls will be a month after his nomination as the party's candidate.

Trump just needs a few months, along with a push from the RW owned media, and he'll be a contender again.
They also have a vested interest because he drives traffic to their sites and shows. They don't want a blowout.

(891 posts)will get support from that group... however, he is seemingly too idiotic to understand that the same things that gave him an edge in the primaries are the same things that will come to haunt him in the general.
