2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDoes Bernie understand who is responsible for staffing primary elections?
Counties and municipalities pay people for one day to staff polling places. How are the Clinton campaign and DNC responsible for that without getting into tin foil territory?

(30,439 posts)It's actually quite shocking how misinformed he is.

(12,958 posts)Why do you support cheating?
RandySF
(58,440 posts)Don't confuse them with caucuses.
AgingAmerican
(12,958 posts)Handling such things as REGISTRATIONS, etc.
Since when do Democrats support cheating?
RandySF
(58,440 posts)State election departments are responsible for voter registration. Did you flunk Civics?
AgingAmerican
(12,958 posts)Not VOTER registration. Party MEMBER registrations.
That's how the cheating was done this time around. When did the Democratic party start cheating in elections?
Hekate

(12,958 posts)Here is a basic CIVICS lesson for you...
Voter registrations are handled through state government. PARTY registration is handled by the POLITICAL PARTIES.
Thanks for playing!

(58,440 posts)When I registered in CA, I marked Democrat on my form and it went directly to the CA Dept of Elections. Sorry to shred your tinfoil.
baldguy
(36,649 posts)Ah - Washington State.
Here's the Washington State Democratic Party website:
http://www.wa-democrats.org/
Do you know where the link to register to vote on that website goes to? The site for the Washington Secretary of State Elections Division:
https://weiapplets.sos.wa.gov/myvote/?Org=WADems#/login
Where you get to declare your party preference.
Every other state handles it pretty much the same way.
Thanks for playing.
AgingAmerican
(12,958 posts)So it's pointless discussing it with them.
baldguy
(36,649 posts)States handle voter registration & declarations of party affiliation, if any. The parties have nothing to do with it.

(7,318 posts)when they register to vote!
The poster above you was correct: in WA State and in about 18 other states you must register directly with the political party that you want to be a member of.

(1,999 posts)There's been no "cheating" in the primaries.
AgingAmerican
(12,958 posts)And we're not even to the general election yet! Thanks DNC!
Of course you deny it, you have no choice but to.
Lord Magus
(1,999 posts)Is this the first election you've ever participated in? Because I can't think of any other way you could actually believe what you posted.
AgingAmerican
(12,958 posts)It's the DNC's cherry on top!

(7,318 posts)leaders are asking him to concede. As a matter of fact, there has been no push back from them about Sanders taking it to the convention. You might want to speculate as to why.

(144,884 posts)My county was out of machines and so we were forced to do a joint primary with the GOP.
The Party has no control over same day registration either. That is controlled by State law. Right now, we have been fighting for on line voter registration for two cycles and keep getting blocked by the GOP because the GOP thinks that online voter registration would help Democrats (they are right but that is a different issue).
I still remember when some Sanders supporters complained that the DNC did not have voter registrars at all Sanders events. That is now how the process operates and Sanders' latest demands are just as unrealistic

(17,865 posts)It is true Bernie wants to blame the Clinton campaign and the DNC for his loss. He certainly does come of as Bitter. It's an opinion.
Worse, much worse gets said about our presumptive nominee, Hillary. But they'd never hide if it's against her.

(12,958 posts)IT's about party registrations, and the manipulation of same by the powers that be within the party. AKA the DNC.

(58,440 posts)But party ID is part of the initial registration process.
