Sanders not ending campaign in Thursday's video speech: spokesman

WASHINGTON | BY JOHN WHITESIDES

Bernie Sanders does not plan to suspend his campaign and endorse presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in a video speech to supporters on Thursday, focusing instead on ways to pursue his policy agenda and reform goals, a spokesman said.

Sanders, who has resisted pressure to exit the race and back Clinton in a show of party unity since she clinched the Democratic nomination last week, will address supporters nationwide on a video live stream on Thursday night.

That raised expectations Sanders might formally pull the plug on his campaign. But spokesman Michael Briggs said on Wednesday the speech will focus on how Sanders' supporters can keep the fight alive on priorities such as raising the minimum wage and reducing the influence of big money in politics.

"Tomorrow night, no, he's not ending it," Briggs said of the campaign. "We're working our way through that, how to go forward on that front. This message to supporters is going to be a lot broader than that."

He'll be campaigning against Trump. He'll be campaigning for delegates to vote for him on the floor as a demonstration of support for his agenda within the party.

And he'll be campaigning for supporters to capitalize on the infrastructure build in the campaign to keep the fight going long term.

None of this helps Trump. Part and parcel of the campaign for his agenda is to support Dems who are running in every state, including nominee Hillary.

He needs to look at his supporters and say those magic words - vote for Hillary and send Trump and the GOP a message. But he won't because it is all about Bernie. Also, he hasn't shown much support for Democrats running for other seats, In fact, he has ridiculed Hillary for going to fundraisers for other candidates. Not a chance in hell for the House to go Dem in November, but the Senate, now that one is up for grabs. Bernie has supported bu one person running for a Senate seat. His supporters have also shown that they show little support for downticket races.

in order to allow the democrats to retake the house
he has enough support to steal some of those GOP+5 seats.

But he'd have to convince his supporters to vote for democrats other than Sanders.
for both the state and federal level offices.

Too much more needs to be done and it looks like it will take another 6 months before the next stage is reached.

Of course you know this, and is why you will keep fighting for us and our democracy. One day there will be a million like you and then we will have won.

It's a different campaign. For his agenda, for his supporters to say in long term, and for the election of Dems to make the agenda possible. Boot out Repubs, elect Hillary this year, boot out more Repubs in two years, in four years. The more Dems in Congress the less Hillary's "can't happen" excuse has any legs.

Not conceding that loss is gross. He's a jealous politician.

If he has a legislative agenda, then he should get to writing bills and getting cosponsors--and the votes. What he wants instead is a feudal system where he institutes his "agenda" via loyalist backing. And he wants to change the primary system to become a rubber stamp in placing his loyalists in the legislative bodies.

He is not a Democrat.
