Giving respect to Bernie's demands could be equivalent to giving credence to

some of his and his followers most blatant lies and misrepresentations.

For instance, getting rid of DWS without an open hearing of Bernie's charges and DWS's defenses is to take Bernie and his followers word that she rigged the primary in Hillary's favor.

And to accept the idea that we need Bernie and his followers to remake the Democratic party is pure narcissistic egotistical elitism IMHO. The party could use some reform but let the whole party in on the reforms don't just take Bernie's ideas as the sole source of reforms. Also why let independents remake a party they don't belong to?

And changing the primary process according to Bernie's plan is also leaving out the ideas of the rest of us. I am not for open primaries.

I hope Hillary let him know last night that we aren't going to be bullied and black mailed into giving him dominance over any changes we make.

What Bernie says to his backers tonight will be telling. If he vows to fight on, just who the hell is he fighting against?

What we need to hear is a concession speech, an endorsement of Hillary's campaign and a willingness to work together with all Democrats to make reforms. Ours is much more than a left wing party.

Why indeed would you want the Democratic party to be an open tent? Why would you want to bring voters who have been disenchanted and disenfranchised back to the table?
Why indeed...

4. But most Bernie supporters aren't "back" to the table. They have never wanted to have a place

Most had never registered to vote or vote if they had. MOST Democrats are quite happy. It appears that the most unhappy are the people that have never wanted to be a part of the party, are now po'd because they don't get to set the party rules. Just like Bernie Sanders himself.

14. Or maybe they really would have preferred Bernie over Trump?

Is that really so unreasonable? Wouldn't you rather have Bernie than Trump?

Right now a show of complete unity would be a huge slap to Trump and the GOP. I too am in favor of closed primaries. That is the reason I belong to a "party". It is my choice. I also want no part in selecting the GOP nominee. That is their poison to drink. Right now Bernie if just running on ego. I would not be surprised if tonight he doesn't make some other outrageous statement about the primaries or take another swipe at the DNC. Egos are terrible when they are unchecked by reality.

7. If HRC gives an inch, then Sanders

...will have a new argument for her to make to his millions of supporters.

If she doesn't, he'll be making a she's-Not
-Trump argument.

By give an inch, I mean she should agree to be more forceful on issues where she mildly agrees with Sanders.

HRC has said she's for public financing of elections and against the TPP. She should agree to be forceful on those issues.

support in the White House. The bills will come from the Congress and Bernie can lead the way.

Hillary and Bernie can work this stuff out in the near future. What we here on DU need to do is stop attacking the candidates and come together to fight Trump. Just my opinion.

10. I agree that we shouldn't be letting Independents define the rules for our party.

As a resident of California, I was pissed off that the GOP had a Closed primary on the same day as the Democrats and no one (not a single Independent) said a thing about that issue and raised the spectrum that it was not being democratic for any right leaning Independents. No it's just the Independents who lean Democratic who wanted to stir things up. FTR, I live in a rightwing community in Northern LA County and every week, the Sunday newspaper's Opinion page is a full page right wing bitching session. And these people are informed. I never once saw anyone complain that they were an Independent and were pissed off that the Republican Primary was open to only Republicans. The Democratic Party's Primary was open to those who registered as a Non Party Preference or NPP and as a NPP one could request a Democratic Presidential Voting Ballot but the Republicans didn't even allow for NPPs to participate in their primary at all.

Also since by the time California's Primary rolled around, the GOP's nominee was already determined, and local Republicans were discussing changing their party affiliation in order to vote for Sanders so that they could screw up our Primary, by helping a socialist get the nomination. And since California had one of the latest registration change dates, I knew we were going to get screwed and called our state DNC office to complain about it. In the end it worked our for Hillary, but i told the people at the state office that I would be back after the election to fight for getting that changed because of the opportunity for outsiders to manipulate the outcome of our Primary. As a resident of California who pays a lot of taxes, I'm tired of voting last when often the contest has been decided, and I damn sure don't want to sit by during another Primary and watch outsiders try and manipulate the outcome of our Primary.

If you want to vote Democrat, or influence the DNC Party's rules or platform, than register and become a Democrat. If you aren't willing to become a member of the Democratic Party and abide by the Party's rules, than you and your posse have no right to make the rules for those of us who are members.

from Hillary last night. He'll get the iron fist from the Senators tomorrow. If he doesn't concede and endorse fairly quickly, he'll become.a liability and will be cut loose.

Regardless of what the Republicans do, we have the prospect of s Democratic landslide in the making, which could also give us a clear majority in the Senate and gains in the House.
