Bernie Sanders Not Being Vetted as Hillary Clinton’s Running Mate

The Wall Street Journal:

Hillary Clinton’s campaign isn’t considering primary rival Bernie Sanders as her running mate, but is actively looking at Sen. Elizabeth Warren, whose populist politics line up closely with Mr. Sanders, people familiar with the process said.

The vetting remains in its early stages. So far, potential candidates have been scrutinized using publicly available information. The Clinton team hasn’t asked anyone to submit tax returns or other personal information, one of the people said. Conversations with Mrs. Clinton herself about options are just now beginning.

Beyond the Massachusetts senator, other prospective candidates include Labor Secretary Tom Perez; Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro; Sens. Tim Kaine of Virginia, Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Cory Booker of New Jersey; Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and Reps. Xavier Becerra of California and Tim Ryan of Ohio, several Democrats said.

Asked Tuesday if she would consider Mr. Sanders, Mrs. Clinton told Telemundo, “I haven’t even begun to sort all that out.” She added, “There are a lot of really qualified, dynamic candidates, I’m sure, to be considered for vice president.”

And I think it's PAST time for a Latino to be represented at the highest level. He's also young, so he'll be available to run after Hillary's terms, and choosing him would not remove a Dem Senator.

Being ready to be president...unlike Trump.

And also unlike Castro. Being mayor of San Antonio was a part-time job with no real power. As HUD Secretary, he's in charge of an agency no one cares about, where he's accomplished nothing of note. No way does he belong on a ticket espousing ecperience and expertise. Someday, maybe, but not this year.

and his followers. If not anger, what is it that drives you to act out with such animosity? Just the thrill of bullying?

This Bernie and vp stuff is silly. HRC would never ask him and he would never seek it, much less accept it.

Warren is a cynical choice and I'm shocked Warren would even consider it.

Secretary Clinton's running mate will probably be someone younger who will help with key demographics. She'll look at broader issues to find the best partner. I remember being surprised when then-Senator Obama chose Senator Biden but, boy, did that turn out right. Mrs. Clinton will make a similarly good choice and it might surprise everyone.

Just above the message window, you'll see the "tool bar" with"b","i", etc. Right in the middle there's a tab "excerpt". Just highlight the text to be "boxed" and click on "excerpt".

Bernie would suck up too much oxygen.

On the other hand, he can do a lot of good by continuing his movement and setting the political goals of the future. ESPECIALLY with younger people. He could be the turning point in History that finally puts the focus BACK on the majority, 99%ers, for decades to come.

I also respect Julian Castro and Sherrod Brown. I have not been thrilled with Tim Kaine, although recently I saw him on a C-Span interview and he was impressive, and I could see why he has been popular. Cory Booker has good and bad stuff--I remember him on Morning Joe surprisingly agreeing with some of their opinions. I do not know Eric Carcetti or Tim Ryan.

All in all democrats have a large pool of highly qualified candidates who would enhance the ticket.

He'd be an insane choice. He'd undermine her at every turn and draw no centrist or moderate republicans to her camp. His state is tiny and unimportant in the EC.

I never thought they'd give him a first look. Why?
