The great fear time of making a decision is upon us. Will I get blamed if I pick the winning

candidate and everything goes wrong.

Reality is, like it or not our system is 2 parties, Trump or Hillary.

Why, because we are a fairly new country and up/down decisions are needed. We do not have time for 100yr plans.

Many are just picking losers to avoid this fear.

At 200+ we are actually one of the older systems of government, and one of the older nations. We like to pretend that we are new as part of our mythology.

2. Not why we have our current system. The current system with its arcane electoral college, it's hodge-podge of state election systems, and its insistence on simple plurality elections has many reasons for why it came about, none of them being no time for a 100 year plan.

Slavery, federalism, elitism, and mostly for the last 100 years duopolism and abject corruption are better explanations.
