I'd look for discrepancies in counties using different brands of touch-screen or diebold machines and compare to the hand-count totals.

If the ES+S or Diebold machines statewide had a big swing vs other brands and hand-counts, it'd be a big red flag, especially if it's in the same precinct.

An exit poll discrepancy is a flag as well, but can still be explained that people simply did not want to say who they voted for.

I assume it was relatively clean though, because other posters would have already mentioned finding these kind of discrepancies in their research.

Unfortunately this year, substantial exit poll differences have been noted in the US primary. In this year’s primary, the Red Shift appears to have become the “Clinton Shift”.

And it appears if these pollsters want to get buisness from the consortium they better shift…

"Edison Research definitely wanted to keep being hired by the Media Consortium which proposes to tell viewers the true election results but which also chooses to trust electronic voting machine data. That was the last time that the American public has been able to see raw exit poll data."

Oh wait, the MSM and DNC put the nix to that! Hmmm, what a coincidence! I think it is pretty clear that voter suppression, SOS direction to give out ballots without presidential candidates on them and the lack of verifiable machines, that this election had some....shall I say, problems!

Exit polls in the United States have never been configured for verifying outcomes. They're for collecting demographic and issue data from the voters.

And it's pretty clear that none of those things you described actually happened in California.

63. Exit polls aren't much more accurate than other polls.
Mon Jun 20, 2016, 06:03 AM
Jun 2016

Their accuracy depends on how good a job they did ahead of time on guessing which precincts to use for their samples; how lucky they are in getting a random sample of people walking out of the voting booths (as opposed to just the most cooperative -- who tend to be the youngest) and how similar the voting patterns of the people who voted on election day are to the people who voted early/absentee.

In most elections, younger voters tended to vote on election day, and older voters vote absentee or early. This affects the accuracy of the day-of exit polls because Bernie's voters skew young, and Hillary's are older.

pnwmom

(108,973 posts)
73. No, it isn't. Exit polls are flawed like other polls. Here some possible problems:
Mon Jun 20, 2016, 08:16 AM
Jun 2016

They are dependent on the pollster choosing the correct precincts to use as their bellwether precincts.

They are dependent on the interviewers successfully being able to nab every nth person for a representative sample (younger people tend to be more cooperative)

The people voting on the day of the election tend to be younger; those voting early and absentee tend to be older. So Hillary's voters (who tend to be older) will be undercounted in any exit poll conducted on election day.

People who voted provisionally may or may not have their vote counted in the end, depending on whether their registration turned out to be valid.

If exit polling was as perfect as some people think, we'd never have to count up the ballots at all. But it isn't. Far from it.

70. This is the progressive equivalent of Birtherism?
Mon Jun 20, 2016, 06:37 AM

Bernie won caucus states, where it is difficult to vote and so far fewer participate.

Hillary won primary election/everybody who's interested fills out a ballot and just mails it in or comes by the polling places and it's done states.

Hillary ended up with more votes, period. She won.

California was not stolen. California has a paper trail. Check it out. Go to the Secretary of State website to see the current status of everything.
