(12,864 posts)My first memory of a presidential election is 1964, when LBJ beat Goldwater. I've been following the campaigns & elections since 1968 and voting since 1976. I'm a fair student of history.
In my opinion, Donald Trump is by far the most unfit person for the presidency ever to win a major party nomination. He's a bigot, a demagogue, a narcissist, and a pathological liar. He should not be allowed within 10 locked doors of the nuclear codes. If it was practical to do so, I would seriously consider renouncing my US citizenship and moving to Canada if he wins the general election -- not just for all the havoc he would likely wreak or the shame of having him represent my country, but because I wouldn't want to be part of a citizenry that decided to put him in office.
As much as I loathed GW Bush after he exploited the tragedy of 9/11 to launch a disastrous war based on lies, I would be orders of magnitude more disheartened if Trump is elected than when Bush got a 2nd term. This isn't left/right politics. This is about having, at minimum, a marginally decent human being in the most prestigious and powerful office on the planet. Or at least a person who can behave like one.

(16,254 posts)I think the media and the Republican party are in panic mode and trying to figure out how to get themselves out of trouble with the general public.
I will admit his followers bother me as much as The Donald winning the nomination. Where did they all come from? So much hate.

(12,864 posts)I'm a little concerned about how a couple members of my senior softball team might react to the part about renouncing my US citizenship, given they are Trump voters.
So far I've tried and succeeded to keep softball separate from politics.

(16,254 posts)I wouldn't worry about the Trump supporters. So many are dropping out, they may have already gone green or Johnson. Still holding on to their idea of voting for Trump shows they aren't paying attention to his idiocy or are of the same mentality. I think most of the Republicans will vote for anyone who shakes their fist and cusses a lot.

(10,893 posts)of anyone more deserving than him to suffer a landslide loss. He acts like a toddler trapped in a 70 year old man's body, he wages petty arguments on Twitter, and he gets butthurt over the slightest thing. It's no wonder why moderate R's and sane-ish RWers don't want to be associated with him.
