2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIMHO Hillary should say nothing about that speech. Just let the surrogates do it.
It was really typical Trump dressed up in a measured tone. Accusations out of a book, lots of "she probably did this, she'll probably do that" and a ton of general, unfulfillable promises.
If this is what he's got, no problem.
I do think the debates will be wild though. If she pokes at him just right he may go berserk.

(4,762 posts)Trump just appealed to his disaffected remaining supporters. Bernie needs to slap that shit right down publicly.

(6,974 posts)But I had to listen to his little 'speech' today and it was HORRIBLE as per.
Nothing new, just spewing lies, and looking at hims struggling with the teleprompter was hilarious
But, I won't be listening to another one of his 'crazy & rambling' speeches again though. I don't need to kill off anymore brain cells listening to Don The Con Trump.

(7,811 posts)the bigger picture deserves a response:
' For 40 years, the GOP and corporate media have been selling the American people lies, deception, fact-free memes, and misinformation. They have used low tactics, polarization, hate, fear, and citizens united to dupe all of us, most especially their own base. Of course, through GOP natural selection processes they have ended up with a representative who has evolved perfectly to continue those strategies and repellant tactics: a selfish, incompetent, mindless, dysfunctional shark hopped up on the PCP and steroids of public attention, who will indiscriminately eat whatever it wants regardless of truth, fairness, or morality. I call on fairminded journalists and pundits to not only help the American people effectively discuss and process this dangerous candidate but also to shed light on the sad state of our public discourse that helped bring us to this point. It's an issue issue than one used-car salesman. For my part, I will continue to focus on issues, policy, history, facts, fairness, reality, and problem solving as essential aspects of governing and trust that, moving forward, we can talk about the future with at least two political parties and the fourth estate acting responsibly, productively, and in the best interests of the American people.'
Get off Trump alone...at best he's a decoy, at worst he's merely the result of a broken political, economic, and social system that will produce more of him unless addressed. I guess that should be part of the statement too.

(7,811 posts)a joke of a nominee and how it would be better to have two responsible, productive political parties instead of just one.
Respond with ridicule of the party.

(12,958 posts)She needs to stop reacting to his crazy nonsense and start talking about policy, IMHO.

(37,428 posts)Trump is currently floundering, and denying him opportunities to engage with a real candidate sounds like a good plan.
