(81,856 posts)His views on choice would also be a negative. But in terms of checklist of qualifications, Kaine hits most of them.

(15,367 posts)but I really do not believe that it will be Tim Kaine. My hope all along has been that Hillary NOT choose ANY currently serving Dem who is a US Senator, a US Rep or a state Governor. We NEED all of those people where they are to help support her agenda. This eliminates a LOT of people who have been mentioned already or who have been on a "short list."
I like several candidates who meet the "not currently serving" requirement and would be happy with any one of them. My own personal preference is Martin O'Malley, however. Had Hillary not run for President, MOM would have received my vote in the primary.
He is a progressive, has effective managerial political experience, has an exceptional interest in and track record on the environment, is genuinely concerned with social justice and minorities, and - best of all - is young, with exceptional enthusiasm and personality. He did an excellent job as MD's Governor and we miss him still.

We're taking Maryland anyway. MOM is a great guy but adds little to the ticket...

I stated my preference. You have yours. In the end, it's Hillary's choice and she will choose the best fit for her.

Well, the numbers were right, but the direction was wrong.
