http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-sanders-idUSKCN0ZA272Sanders' comments come after weeks of pressure from Democratic Party officials to throw his weight behind Clinton, the presumptive nominee. She locked up the required number of delegates this month with a string of wins in state-by-state primary contests.
Clinton, the former U.S. secretary of state, senator, and first lady, needs Sanders' supporters to boost her chances against Trump in the Nov. 8 election. Only 40 percent of them say they would vote for her, with the rest undecided or divided between Trump, a third-party candidate and staying home, according to Reuters/Ipsos polling.

(11,495 posts)We do need to unite and Bernie will be right there fighting with Hillary to make sure Trump does not win. Some of his more diehard supporters aren't to happy with him, but he is doing the right thing, and his help will make sure Hillary gets elected and Trump gets dumped.

(19,877 posts)I think he is trying to let down some of his supporters gently to avoid being thrown under the bus by them. Some are having a very hard time coming to grips with the fact Hillary is the nominee, and Bernie will be helping her beat Trump.

(35 posts)Watching CNN this afternoon, and they had a black-haired Bernie supporter, ostensibly a surrogate, and a somewhat regular Clinton supporter (an actual delegate) and the host was a occasional host with very red hair. Anyhow. WHEW!
Before anyone started talking the brunette (Maria maybe?) interrupted the host and the Clinton delegate talking about the apparent ambiguity coming from Bernie regarding supporting Clinton. Black-haired Bernie girl slowly blows gasket. She began to call the Dem delegate a liar, yelling, and then insists that Bernie's ambiguity and mixed signals are in no way her problem and Bernie needn't be grateful the DNC chair GAVE Bernie five appointee slots to hand pick. She's breathing FIRE by this point and completely loses composure insisting that Clinton needs to get her act together because Bernie's doing HER a favBizarre the ambiguity had nothing to do with Sanders. Classic juvenile tantrum. Bizarre.

(2,897 posts)I just watched the video linked below. The only lie was when the surrogate stated that Bernie won half the delegates. He's well below that halfway point.
