Nothing brings people to a political fundraiser like a special performance of Hamilton and Hillary Clinton knows it. The Clinton campaign announced on Saturday that an extra performance of the Broadway hit has been scheduled on July 12 as a fundraiser for the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, according to an email sent to supporters.
When I first saw the musical Hamilton last year, I was blown away, the email read. Its an incredible feat of storytelling about the fight for the heart and soul of our very nation. Its a look at history that feels immediately relevant today. Its a beautiful piece of art with empathy to spare.
Organized by the Hillary Victory Fund, seats for the matinee performance start at $2,700 and go to $100,000 for event chair tickets, which includes two premium seats, a wrap party with Clinton and other special guests, and an invite to the Democratic National Convention. Tickets are available on Clinton's website.
Entertainment Weekly notes that last November, the shows cast hosted a fundraiser for the Democratic National Hope Fund, which President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama attended. Both fundraisers indicate that the Tony Award-winning Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda a hot commodity for the Clinton campaign is not shying away from political advocacy both on and off Broadway.
Im going to be trying to get out the Latino vote as hard as possible, Miranda said last week, according to The Daily Beast.....
Wow, what a great "get!" If I won the lottery, I'd love to attend that performance!

Clinton is actually quite frugal compared to others in terms of her expenditures. She targets carefully. I'm sure payroll is a lot of her expense, but that payroll pays for the 50 state strategy that will hopefully bring the House and Senate back to us.

(1,604 posts)I've donated $$ and a lot to time to local candidates for phone banks. I like phone bank duty (or envelope stuffing.) You get to see an election and the candidate from a whole different perspective. You can't be a candidate unless you're optimistic, no matter what the odds.
Lots of pizza, subs and bottled water over the years have fueled elections from the bottom up.

While $1-2k is more common, this could be a legit purchase for a fan. Still quite out of most peoples league. I expect to see it when the hype dies down, and the ticket is $150 or something.
