“The Republican National Committee is planning to cleave liberal voters away from Hillary Clinton as part of a campaign to counteract her forthcoming pick of a vice presidential running mate,” the Huffington Post reports.

“In a detailed memo outlining its strategy to combat Clinton’s VP choice, the committee says it will frame the selection as both a cynical play to certain constituencies and as an emotional letdown for voters who backed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Democratic primary.”

they just do not have it together this election year...seems to me trump's vp pick could turn out to be a real wedge issue for the Democrats...we could laugh ourselves silly....

The GOP is just wasting their money in that framing. On that particular issue, they are shooting a dead horse.

If she picks Warren, it is a cynical play, but at least I'll have two reasons to vote for Clinton. If she goes with a conservative, I'll only have one reason.

As they always do. Republicans always take advantage of the one-way door of hypocrisy that their addled constituents use.

But the tactic alienates undecided voters and it hasn't worked since 1980, unless you count its limited use in Shrub's thefts.

Trump's pick is going to be a friggin' disaster, anyway. They're not going to be in any position to draw attention to VP candidates.

With respect to Kaine, the committee’s plan of attack will be to paint him as a “career politician” whose positions on trade and abortion makes him unpalatable for supporters of Sanders. (Without irony, the RNC’s memo also says they will portray a Clinton/Kaine ticket as too liberal for the electorate because of Kaine’s support for Obamacare and his time as a lawyer for the ACLU).
