2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI am not angry at Bernie. I don't really care when he chooses to officially quit.
The primaries are over, and we on du should focus on what it will take to get the democratic nominee HRC elected.
There is no anger, I'm just over pretending that the primary is not over. It is over. She won. Let's help her win the general election.
That is all.

out campaigning enthusiastically with the Democratic nominee, I'm no longer angry at Sanders or his dwindling group of supporters. But I have to admit, I was before all the above happened.
But yes, with President Obama set to campaign with Hillary Clinton next week and the G.E. in full swing already, I'm happy as could be that we'll be getting another true-blue Democrat into the White House and am enthusiastically guessing along with other Democrats who will she choose as her VP running mate!

(15,438 posts)I also can't find her tweet where she proclaimed #ImWithHer. I recall seeing lots of hate directed at her for it while I left a tweet thanking her. Now I can't find it. Maybe she took it down to stem the hateful vitriol she was getting.

(68,868 posts)She's completely repudiated that stand.

(15,438 posts)It appears that she's making her opposition to Hillary Clinton this presidential year a personal vendetta.

(53,866 posts)Till I saw the poll numbers. She's not really floundering now, so no reason for me to be angry. I want her to win with a giant margin and that is my focus.

(94,467 posts)....I think this refers to her INITIAL support for Clinton; she then switched to Sanders and is still with him...

(15,438 posts)I guess she's gotten bitter and angry that the Clintons didn't help her win the SoS position in Ohio and she was effectively ousted from a good-paying public job.

(31,798 posts)Anger at Sanders would be fruitless - there's not point to it.
Now lets throw a big collective elbow at that awful piece of shit Trump. It's time for him to go home!

I don't know that he is really consequential right now.

We'll vote for Clinton to Stop Trump and the GOP, but that does not mean blind absorption into the borg. Or, if you prefer a Dr. Who reference, we will not become Cybermen.

(15,429 posts)That way, it all goes away because the loser of the primaries is irrelevant to the GE now. That candidate's actions no longer have any effect as anybody that supported the loser of the primaries who hasn't already moved over to the nominee won't be voting for the nominee, regardless. Time to just give up on anybody like that and try to pick up more from the middle and disaffected anti-Trump Republicans by performing the standard GE pivot.
Write them off, they weren't going to vote for the Democratic nominee any way.

(18,115 posts)That goes for both Hillary and Bernie supporters. Bernie's just playing it out in his own way but it is really of no moment. Hillary is the nominee and Bernie will be behind her by the time the GE is truly underway.

(10,843 posts)Every day that he refuses to concede and actively move to support the Democratic nominee is another step into irrelevancy. Current events starting with Orlando left him standing behind. His story is older and older news. Where he CAN help if he is interested in moving his message from thought to reality is to actively work with Clinton's team to promote the Democratic candidate and, by doing so, create real political capital to advance some of his agenda. The longer he waits the less he is needed by the Clinton campaign. In fact, his stock is probably close to the bottom now.

Immaterial really, when Sanders decides to call it quits.
He is daily slipping further away from the center of power and influence. He has willfully exiled himself from the main arena of action.
Pity...he is sabotaging the very "political revolution" that he campaigned on.

(34,165 posts)I really don't understand the HRC supporter focus on concession and endorsement.
I believe helping the Democratic party win the Whitehouse is supplemented by supporting Bernie's effort to influence the party platform right up to votes in the convention.
Bernie supporters are wiling to vote for HRC, but Bernie still speaks for many of us and outside the party who would like to see more of his agenda adopted.
La Lioness Priyanka
(53,866 posts)And the majority voted for her, so her policies will win. Despite all the propaganda, we too understand policy, and we preferred hers by a four million margin.

(34,165 posts)where minority groups may convince some or all members of the party to vote for something.
If it just supposed to be determined by Hillary there wouldn't need to be a committee or vote.

(7,906 posts)but I admit to being a bit annoyed at their insistence that I be angry. But it's been like that since his campaign started, harassing people, attempting to intimidate people, telling people to "feel the bern".

I think too many people assume that we voted for Clinton for non-policy reasons. This is both condescending and wrong.

(50,254 posts)We all know that HRC won.
Now, it's mainly about the platform(which has been a pretty good combination of things both campaigns stood for) and the way the party is run in the future, which does need to change in many ways.
I hope we can all work something good out on those points.
La Lioness Priyanka
(53,866 posts)her agenda won, and her policies won.

she won because of her platform, which will eventually be the platform democrats agree on due to her winning the primary by a large margin.
