(6,444 posts)Unlike traditional propaganda techniques designed to engage emotional support, disinformation is designed to manipulate the audience at the rational level by either discrediting conflicting information or supporting false conclusions. A common disinformation tactic is to mix some truth and observation with false conclusions and lies, or to reveal part of the truth while presenting it as the whole (a limited hangout).
Another technique of concealing facts, or censorship, is also used if the group can affect such control. When channels of information cannot be completely closed, they can be rendered useless by filling them with disinformation, effectively lowering their signal-to-noise ratio and discrediting the opposition by association with many easily disproved false

If it's a mistake I find it stupid, stupid stupid. And people spreading it and people not catching it: not using critical thinking or something, or not caring to. Not sure!
Author linked her Linked in the article's site along with her twitter.

(4,035 posts)We don't need to emulate the Gamergaters even a little, and inundating a college students with angry emails about how her article is wrong is not good. Show how the articles are wrong in posts here on DU, even write an email to the author yourself, but don't invite a deluge down on her by encouraging a multitude of DUers to write to her.
I think you should delete this OP, and I say that as a Clinton supporter.
Her Sister
(6,444 posts)would not get spread! I looked at the FEC site. I looked at the sources. I looked at the author. In the other thread the OP left the article with the wrong info.
KitSileya
(4,035 posts)That smacks of doxxing and Gamergating - to encourage people to go after a person online. People who go to the website on their own and are dismayed at what she writes? Fine. But to ask people here to join you in writing to her? I don't think that's right. That is threading very close to the line.
Her Sister

(4,035 posts)I think you can say that you wrote to her, and give the link to the article if people want to read the whole article themselves. Then they can decide themselves if they want to write to her too.
Let's face it, she's not a professional journalist, or even a journalism student. She's an amateur, and it shows. To bury her in hateful mail is bad sportsmanship.

(2,353 posts)That 2nd link doesn't create any content they just steal other people's articles and rehost them for advertising revenue. On reddit using those type of links are against the rules and they get blocked as rehosted content.

I just know that there were only two sites with that info and they happen to have the exact same article. But nowhere else could I find corroboration or 1st hand sources.
Thanks!

Campaign cash of Sanders growing, despite elimination [View all]
https://whipboard.co/2016/06/campaign-cash-sanders-growing-despite-mathematical-elimination/
Despite Hillary Clinton winning the outright nomination on June 7, Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) refuses to back down. According to CNN, Sanders pledges to fight on to the convention. Sanders supporters have also made it clear that they will continue to give money to his campaign.
In fact, according to recent Federal Election Commission data, the Sanders campaign raised an additional $17 million throughout June, despite being mathematically eliminated. Of the over $229 million Sanders has now raised in total, 99.98 percent has come from donations, which is greater than what presidential candidates Donald Trump, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Ohio Governor John Kasich raised.
Sanders has no debt that he needs to settle, and has spent approximately $219.9 million with a surplus of $9 million remaining, which he will most likely spend before he drops out of the campaign.
