2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHRC needs to pick a younger person for Veep!!
I am an older baby boomer and .. HRC is the last of the older Boomers that should run for President.. (yes you can split boomers into an older and younger camp.. we had two totally different experiences) .. and realistically.. we need to be promoting the younger boomers who are just in their 50's and the older Xers into these higher positions of power..
Martin O'Malley would be a great choice from my biased point of view.. I absolutely love the guy and his positions on the environment..
But we do need to be pushing our younger candidates forward.. We have two old farts up this time.. Trump is older than HRC.. and I am so anxious to see the new blood come forward..
So here is the question my fellow DU'ers who would be best of the upcoming for Veep??

(58,785 posts)to get out of the way--a very little because I think it comes more from lack of vision and understanding, arrogance and bias than anything else--but that the list of people ahead of them is lengthening, not shortening, is just a reality that comes with longer, healthier lifespans.
Peacetrain, mandatory retirement ages, i.e., age discrimination, very common in the 1960s at usually 65, was made illegal a very long time ago now. For good reasons. You really don't want to have to help support the people who come before in retirement for 40 and even 50 or more years.
Your generation's advantages in this respect will be just as real as ours, and perhaps even larger, but you'll have to wait for experience, knowledge, useful contacts, and just plain positioning to develop--or out-compete as many will--just as we did and do. You should take comfort knowing that growing population means more positions available, just not at the very top.

(11,495 posts)He had some great ideas on how to fix things, and he put them on paper for all to see. He wasn't all talk, he actually put time an effort into working out actually plans for his ideas. I think he would be a great VP and then president.
