2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTrump is a white supremacist
Too many incidents now to ignore, even for the mainstream media. He's tweeted white supremacist propaganda over and over. He's admitted to owning a book of Hitler speeches which his ex says he kept next to his bed. The David Duke incident he blamed on a faulty head set. The white supremacists he's asked to be delegates. His over all message about race.
The guy is a white supremacist, pure and simple. The media needs to start asking tough questions. Like why the GOP picked a white supremacist as their candidate?

(21,917 posts)In my attempt to be both brief and flippant, I didn't make my point clear, Johnny2X2X.
You wrote, "Too many incidents now to ignore..." meaning that Donald Trump has made racist, nativist and misogynist statements in the past and this latest Tweet featuring a silent dog whistle of anti-semitism was the tell tale that finally exposed Mr. Trump for the racist that he is. I completely agree that Mr. Trump is a small-minded bigot and he only cares about himself and his bank account. He should never be president.
My comment was that you're thinking about him too much. What I intended was there is nothing new about The Donald that wasn't apparent yesterday, last week or even last year. As a New Yorker since the mid-1970's, I've had a nearly daily dose of Donald Trump's life in our city's newspapers and local news. He has always been the same jackass that the country at large is now seeing. His unfitness for any elected office has been on full display for decades.
One doesn't have to spend too much time thinking about Mr. Trump to figure out that he's a disgusting person. I don't have to give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was innocent of using a Star of David in the not-so-veiled anti-semitic image he Tweeted. I don't have to because he's always been an insulting boor. I don't have to think about him too much because it's obvious what he is.
Your concern is completely justified and I never meant to diminish the importance of electing Hillary Clinton and keeping the orange-haired, small-handed cockwomble from ever seeing the inside of the White House.
Plus, Donald Trump is an idiot.

(8,954 posts)Since then it's been a steady series of dog whistles, nods, winks, and feigning ignorance. The ignorance is there alright, but it is of the calculated variety, freely dispensed and readily embraced by Trump's followers.

(2,897 posts)his college transcripts. He never questioned the academic qualifications for any of the white presidents that preceded him. If that didn't set off the "Maybe this guy is a white supremacist" bells, nothing will for the GOP.

(18,744 posts)Trump is clearly racist, but I think it goes beyond just your garden variety racism you hear from most republicans, I think Trump is a Neo Nazi White Supremacist. He goes way beyond the usual. He is going to have financial ties to the KKK, the media is going to find them, you watch.

(2,897 posts)I think the birtherism was racist, but I think the assumption on educational inadequacy in regards to Barack Obama ( on the basis of the color of his skin) was born from white supremacy and the idea that by virtue of being a black man, Barack Obama was inferior intellectually to his white predecessors.

(18,744 posts)Agree with you.
My whole point is that this guy, Trump, is not just an average racist, he's an avowed white supremacist. And if be willing to bet he's not just one in his own head, this guy has been involved with the white supremacy movement in the US at some point. Maybe he has a company that funneled money to white supremacy extremists, maybe he met in secret with KKK leaders, maybe something else, but this guy has dirt on him. People like Trump are cowards, he will have surrounded himself or reached out to other white supremacists at some point.
It's about time the country starts seeing this.

(18,744 posts)Our President is in better position to campaign for his replacement than any in a long time. He's got an approval rating that's as high as 56% and climbing and he's gone 8 years without a single scandal.
