Trump Boasts That Networks Let Him Do Phone Interviews: 'It's So Much Easier'
During a campaign rally in North Carolina on Tuesday, Donald Trump bragged that news networks let him get away with conducting interviews over the phone, rather than in person. "It’s always good when they take you by phone. That means you’re hot," Trump told the crowd.
Trump often phones into news networks often, including Sunday morning shows. However, "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace has not allowed Trump to call into his show. During the rally on Tuesday, Trump acknowledged that his pattern of "phoners" is unusual.
"When you start getting asked—I say, ‘I’m sorry, I won’t be able to do it, I’m on a plane. I’m going to North Carolina.’ ‘How bout by phone?’ They don’t do phones," he said. "Have you ever seen anybody call into Bill O’Reilly? I never saw it."
"We do phoners to Meet The Press. We do phoners to Face the Nation. This Week," he continued. "It’s so much easier folks, you sit home, ‘Hi, how ya doing? How’s everything going? How’s the world? How’s the world?’”
