Warren Will Speak on 1st Night of Democratic Convention - means she probably won't be picked for VP

This seems like bad news for those of us who were hoping she would be picked for VP.

“In an apparent sign that Senator Elizabeth Warren will not be named Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Ms. Warren was invited by Mrs. Clinton’s campaign on Tuesday to deliver a prime-time address on the first night of the Democratic convention this month — a marquee speaking slot but one that is earlier than vice-presidential picks typically appear,” the New York Times reports.

“Such nominees usually speak later in the convention week to build anticipation for the top of the ticket.”

“Two Democrats briefed on the invitation to Mrs. Warren, however, cautioned that Mrs. Clinton had not yet made a decision about a running mate and that asking Ms. Warren to take the stage on the first night did not preclude her from being tapped as the vice-presidential nominee.”

WARREN is the nominee....but they're head faking, and putting her in the slot that Bernie will actually take, in order to throw the press off the scent and keep the secret!!!!!!!

OR.....

Yeah, she's probably not going to be the nominee!

If we can pick up four Senate seats, we're back in charge in the upper chamber--and that would be SWEEEET.

We don't want to risk losing a sitting Senator from a blue state with a RED governor, and turning MA into a Senate battleground state. Ugh. Too much to contemplate.

And Evan Bayh just jumped in, in Indiana--that looks very hopeful.

We need four to flip this thing. It's do-able. It'll cost plenty, but if we can horrify enough Republicans with Tales of the Trumpeteer so that they stay home, and fire up enough Dems to get them to the polls in serious numbers, we can do this.

Unless Warren is going to speak twice or this is a head fake, I guess it means she won't be the VP nominee

I am disappointed but not surprised.

I am glad that both she and Bernie were given prime time slots though.

Barack Obama was a keynoter.

So was Bill Clinton.

So was Al Gore.

Not to say it couldn't happen, and the schedule might flip--or Warren might just speak twice.

That said, MA does have a Republican governor, and everyone who is anyone in "appointed" government is a Friend of Charlie's. People regard MA as reliably blue, but they did get stupid and vote for Reagan. Not only would Governor Baker get to appoint an interim Senator to fill her shoes, he's unlikely to pick some schmuck--he'd choose someone who could make a strong play for that seat. Incumbency is a terrible thing, it gives people who don't deserve it an unreasonable advantage.

I know Reid was looking into MA law, but trust me on this--MA law, can be--and has been--changed, for purely political reasons. One hand washes the other, both wash the face. Our state is about 1/3 independent voters, and they can be contrary at times. Every time they get irritated with the "liberal overreach" they "reward" us (cough, spit, choke) with a GOP governor like Nitwit Baker or Empty Suit Romney.

Warren is the only possibility they remain enthusiastic about.
