2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAbout a dozen polls VERY GOOD for Hillary in the past week, not a peep out of broadcast media.
One poll with some bad numbers and.....
THE SKY IS FALLING FOR HILLARY GET READY DONALD TRUMP IS WINNING!!!!!!!!!
Same shit, different election year. They played this kind of shit in 2008 and 2012.
Hell, at this time in 2008 McCain was a lock in the media and at this point in 2012 there was no way Obama was beating Romney even though you had the same circumstances where the aggregators (yeah, Nate Silver was still just pablano on DailyKos in 2008) had it as >80% chance for Obama in both years and have Hillary at >80% chance this year.
So in honor of the constant haranguing for a horse race by the media, I'm pulling this out again:

(92,061 posts)I also don't have confidence with the polls at this stage.
I believe the demographics among women, African Americans, Latinos, etc. are with the Democrats all the way
As long as we GOTV, we will do just fine

It is also a good thing that the Democratic Convention is after the republican's convention, and we will have the opportunity to demonstrate the contrast loud and clear between the candidates

(58,785 posts)that's been against Hillary for a very long time. Studies show they are subject to the same propaganda manipulation as everyone else, plus the incestuous NY and DC people have become personally committed to rectifying their failures to take her out in the past. Just like any people who've built years of bad behavior on self indulgence in lies, in their case destruction of whatever journalistic integrity they like to imagine they have, self awareness is a problem.
But can that be all? There must be more, surely? They live in this country too. Almost all major media in the U.S. belong to one of 7 families and/or huge corporate conglomerates whose incomes have always been best served by Republicans and insecure at best with Democratic administrations. The people we see are all employees with extremely cushy, self promoting jobs, and the middle of the corporate pack doing what generates the most profit and approval is the safest place to be.
Which came first? Pressure from above, working on a tendency to go along to get along among those whose success required that or from below, joining the groupthink of their "tribe" for the very normal reasons most people do? Regardless, no doubt both forces are making sure it will continue to be the "same shit" into the foreseeable future.

So whatever the truth is they have to sell this presidential race as close. Otherwise no one will watch their crappy "news."
Sell, sell, sell that race!

(50,916 posts)there was never a very close race there. The media just manufactured one.
So sick of this shit.
