For Clinton, Warren offers historic choice for running mate

By Steve LeBlanc, Associated Press

As Hillary Clinton weighs possible running mates, Elizabeth Warren offers a historic choice.

Warren's got all the fire any Democratic presidential candidate would want in a 2016 running mate. She gleefully taunts Donald Trump and she's a dogged campaigner and enthusiastic ambassador to the party's skeptical liberal base of supporters.

On the Democratic ticket with Clinton, Warren would also be a bridge to supporters of former rival Bernie Sanders and a second fist through the glass ceiling to the highest offices in the land. Clinton got there first as the lone woman ever to capture a major party's presidential nomination in the United States.

Two accomplished women on the ticket which would be a first for any major party is a prospect that ignited cheers and excitement when the pair clasped hands and raised them high overhead in a campaign appearance in Michigan last month.

1. I was firmly against this choice....until

that appearance they held together.
Warren had the crowd super excited.
There was great chemistry and energy.
She made Hillary smile and laugh.
She's a great attack dog vs Trump.
Liberal wing would be thrilled including millennials.

The negatives are: losing the Senate seat and Warrens voice in the Senate. The corp conservative media will say the ticket is "too" liberal, Wall Street money may flow to Trump because they hate Warren.

4. We only lose the Senate Seat for 5 months.

And her voice as a Presidential surrogate and advocate could be even MORE powerful. Not many average people pay attention to debates in the Senate, but a fierce and fiery Vice President? That makes for fantastic drama on TV, which means the networks will carry her words EVERYWHERE. People like my wonderful but politically disillusioned, low-income neighbors, who don't even know who our Senators ARE, much less what they (or anyone else) says on the Senate floor, will hear her every time she speaks, because it'll be all over the news. The nation will FINALLY have a chance to fall in love with her the same way we have all been for years.

Secretary Clinton couldn't possibly choose a better VP than Warren. And of course, there is the most important reason of all. We are not John McCain, stupidly choosing a VP (Palin) who would be a disaster as President, in order to pander for votes. We are smarter than that. We choose our best...the one who can lead the nation if ever the worst should happen and we lose our President. Elizabeth Warren is the single most competent person to take over, firmly grip the wheel of State, and heal a grieving nation I'm the event of a tragedy. Frankly, THAT ought to be the primary reason why a VP is chosen. Putting any other reason first is frankly irresponsible. I was horrified when McCain did it. I was horrified when Al Gore did it. We need to do a better job of choosing our Vice Presidents. They are far more important than we give them credit for.

2. Forget it.

No way, for a number of reasons.
