Newt Gingrich Says Bushes Acting 'Childishly' and Need to 'Get Over' Jeb's Loss

Newt Gingrich accused the Bush family of behaving “childishly” by skipping this week’s Republican National Convention and refusing to endorse Donald Trump.

The former speaker of the House, who was widely considered one of the top three vice presidential contenders for Trump, made the comments today on “Good Morning America” in Cleveland, where the convention kicks off.

“The reason people nominated Donald Trump is because they weren’t happy and, frankly, I think the Bushes are behaving childishly,” Gingrich told George Stephanopoulos on “GMA.” “Jeb lost. Get over it.”

Former President George H.W. Bush and his son former President George W. Bush have no plans to endorse Trump, their spokespeople told ABC News in May.

OTOH, maybe that's just what the Convention needs.

Barbara and George Sr. supported Planned Parenthood, as did Prescott Bush. George had to changed his position in order to be on the ticket with Reagan.

Amazing isn't it? Even Nixon was quite liberal by today's standards. Piece by piece the party sold its soul to the devil, until it became a contest as to who can be the most extreme. I think the downward spiral began when they started to appeal to the religious right who had never been very political. They made promises they couldn't and wouldn't keep and eventually that gave birth to the fringe faction of the party.

Doing and saying anything for a vote eventually will bite you in the ass and you end up with candidates like Donald Trump.

of people who can put someone in office with their chump change. Duping the socioreligious right into serving the wealthy worked for a time, and still is to some degree. Despicable. We have over 550 billionaires and literally thousands of megamillionaires who already made out like bandits no matter what happens to the GOP.

Amazing all right. So, of course, is the Koch-lead alliance that's believed to be as powerful as the GOP, but enormously less scrutinized.

That's news to me.

Or are you saying that just because they're old?

My mom just turned 90, and there is NOTHING wrong with HER mind.

Republicans love that word! It was overused in the 1990's.

Never looking at them-selves! Just others were always inappropriate!

He basically blamed 9/11 on George Bush (and there is some merit to that in terms of ignoring warnings) and made some shitty statements about Jeb's wife and mother.

Imagine the books he can sell as a former Secretary of State. He is going to suck on this teat for all he can and this is his only viable route. Trashing the Bush family is not a good idea, however, if you want to show your diplomatic side. Jis' sayin'
