A the GOP convention in Cleveland got under way on Monday, presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump called on a long-time associate to help him make inroads with the African American community where he is viewed dimly — if not with outright distaste

Theresa “Omarosa” Manigault, who climbed to reality television fame on Trump’s TV show The Apprentice, was officially tabbed as the campaigns director of African-American Outreach and immediately went before the cameras to say that her new job began earlier and that “I’m happy to take up that cause for Donald Trump.”

Omarosa has already made several appearances on cable TV as an advocate for Trump, but now she has a formal title and a big task in front of her.

Appearing on MSNBC, she was pressed to explain how Trump’s horrific polling numbers in the black community, particularly in light of a recent Ohio poll that showed the new face of the GOP at a bottom-scraping zero percent.
