It's not true to form for him. All through his campaign he was the first to blast out a tweet or make a phone call to the media or make an appearance on a cable news show or take shots from his primary bully pulpit.

Now it appears that he is in hiding and letting other people take the heat instead of being his old self and standing up for what happened.

Is he a coward? Why is he not protecting his wife? Why is he letting his campaign manager throw her under the bus?

Trump is writing that Melania had done nothing ''malevolent,'' and that she had simply misunderstood the need to cite sources carefully. And he'll assert that using material from others' speeches without attribution is ''much ado about nothing.''

Of course, he'll be stealing from Joe Biden's apology for plagiarism.
