Health officials are reportedly investigating Republican convention guests infected with a vomiting bug.
Health officials in Cleveland on Tuesday were investigating a possible norovirus outbreak at the Republican National Convention after 11 attendees reported symptoms of the disease that causes vomiting and diarrhea, according to reports.
Erie County Health Commissioner Peter Schade told STAT News health publication that his team is running norovirus tests on the 11 potentially infected attendees at their hotel in Sandusky, Ohio, about an hour from the convention in Cleveland. ... The virus causes several days of symptoms including nausea, fever, aches and stomach pain, and can spread quickly in closed places, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Doug Sovern, a reporter for a CBS affiliate in San Francisco attending the convention, tweeted on Tuesday that about a dozen members of the California Republican delegation have been quarantined from the rest of the convention as a precaution. Sovern also posted on Twitter that California delegates have stopped shaking hands for fear of spreading the infection to the thousands of Republican attendees visiting from around the U.S.

(1,089 posts)or such would be the talking point for some if this had happened next week.
I may use it anyway. The wingnut clowns I know are already having a tough enough day/week/campaign.
Time to tell them that God hates their asses.

(135,425 posts)These are anti-choice, anti-gay haters we're talking about. These aren't sweet people who want the very best for you and me. These are people who would as soon see Democrats dead--or working for a lower minimum wage than is the federal standard now.
I will save my sobbing sympathy for Democrats who can't access federal assistance and services because of the hate-filled short - sightedness of state and federal REPUBLICAN actors.

If they made fun of people sick at our convention we would think they were terrible. Which they would be.

(135,425 posts)It clears you out from one end to another.
But it sure as hell ain't HIV, which Reagan ignored while reviling the sufferers. It ain't even the zika virus, which affects pregnant women most cruelly. It's just unpleasant--which means it's really appropriate as the standard-bearing illness of one of the most unpleasant organizations in the world--The GOP.

The bigger question is -- did someone designate you to be a Trump/Republican defender or are you choosing to do it of your own volition?
MADem
(135,425 posts)Of course, the zika virus is the one that the GOP Congress managed to crush the funding for us fighting it, because they wanted to add all sorts of unrelated anti-choice legislation into the bill, making it a nonstarter from our side.

(1,630 posts)There are millions of men, women, children and babies, pregnant women and elderly, middle class and poor who cannot afford the most basic health insurance or even a doctor visit. People who have lost everything: homes, jobs, security, income, their very lives, because of illnesses they could not afford to treat.
The people who can afford to go to the hospital are fortunate; what would they do without the means to do that? There are so many who are suffering and dying right now, today, because they don't have the medical care they need and the REPUBLICANS DON"T CARE and are trying to take away the help they do have. The people at the convention who are sick actively support a heartless system that has no compassion for those who deserve the most.

They're all in a hotel an hour away from Cleveland--it's a "resort" with a water park feature (so maybe that's the source, who really knows?). Some say they are being punished because CA never goes blue--like it's their fault, but those guys are known for their vindictiveness...!
Anyway, as soon as they stop poopin' and pukin', they'll be able to enjoy the delights of the area.
More here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2016/07/19/norovirus-strikes-the-republican-national-convention/
News reports of the California delegation's remote accommodations in Sandusky surfaced earlier this year, when state GOP leaders complained that they were being put up so far from the convention site.
The complaints prompted convention organizers to bristle at suggestions they had dropped the ball on accommodating the GOP's largest delegation, or that the California delegates were being penalized for coming from a state that hasn't historically been friendly to Republicans.
