Related: About this forumTrump could seek new law to purge government of Obama appointees
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-trump-purge-exclusive-idUSKCN10003AIf he wins the presidency, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would seek to purge the federal government of officials appointed by Democratic President Barack Obama and could ask Congress to pass legislation making it easier to fire public workers, Trump ally, Chris Christie, said on Tuesday.
Christie, who is governor of New Jersey and leads Trump's White House transition team, said the campaign was drawing up a list of federal government employees to fire if Trump defeats Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the Nov. 8 presidential election.
As you know from his other career, Donald likes to fire people, Christie told a closed-door meeting with dozens of donors at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, according to an audio recording obtained by Reuters and two participants in the meeting.

Is Trump even a small-d democrat (as Democratic POTUSES and even GOP ones like Reagan, Bushes, Ford, etc. were)? This is the kind of stuff that's not only why we need to beat him, but this should give moderate Republicans pause for the future of this democratic republic.

How would it even be legal to fire civil service employees based on their political affiliation?

(2,707 posts)3. he seems like a repeal the 17th Amendment guy;
and replace it with Trump personally appointing Senators. He's definitely the end of democracy.

The phrases "seek to PURGE the federal government"....and...."draw up a LIST of federal government employees" frightens me. Don't treat this lightly,
Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it.

I honestly never thought Trump was a fascist. I knew he was a phony, a loose cannon and a windbag, but wow....some of his ideas make me wonder.

wouldn't surprise me if the other fascist republicans are selling him these ideas.
