Democratic National Convention Committee Releases Official App

Livestreams, Exclusive Robust Content and Social Integration Key To Engaging Experience

PHILADELPHIA – The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) released today an app designed to make this convention the most innovative and forward-looking in history. The convention will leverage new technologies to make sure more Americans than ever can engage with the convention.

“Our app ensures that whether you’re inside the Wells Fargo Center or thousands of miles away, you can engage with the convention,” said Andrew Binns, Chief Innovation Officer for the Democratic National Convention. “With constantly updated content, social integration and a front row seat to history, our app is an essential tool both for delegates in Philly and viewers across the country.”

App Highlights:
Robust Convention Content: No matter what type of user is accessing the app, there’s material just for them. From the casual observer scrolling through headlines to a political junkie glued to every second, the app will have in-depth and up-to-date videos, speeches, photos and more.

360 Degree Livestream: In addition to a standard main camera feed, the DNCC app will feature 360 degree livestreams from vantage points unavailable anywhere else.

Seamless Social Integration: During key convention moments, real-time pre-populated tweets will surface on the home page for instant sharing.

Map overlays: In-app maps display convention venues, Philadelphia watch parties, and of course, all 57 Donkeys Around Town.

Search: App content is fully searchable, as are the in-app maps.

Chromecast and AirPlay Capability: The DNCC standard and 360 livestreams can be cast to televisions with Chromecast and AirPlay.

Convention essentials: Speech transcripts, schedules, maps and everything else a delegate needs to navigate their convention experience are at their fingertips.

Philadelphia Flavor: A “Best of Philadelphia” section highlights ways to make the most out of a visit to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection.

The convention app, “DNC 2016,” is available for download in the App Store and on Google Play.

I remember the contrasts between the RNC and the DNC in 2008 and then in 2012. The RNC was disorganized, sometimes offensive, and flat out goofy. The silly costumes and hats, not to mention the lame celebrities, boring speeches, and really bad jokes. It was like a totally dreadful family reunion, all those relatives that avoid all year long in one place!
