Folks in 31 states and DC can register online. This website has links and instructions for registering online, in person, and at overseas locations.
Equally important for those of us who "think" we are already registered is to confirm that fact. At the bottom of the webpage linked above, they provide info for accessing your state's Election Board and checking that your voter registration is on the books and that all information is current and correct. If not, it's better to deal with it now than face complications on Election Day.
