Clinto VP announcement - I don't get it

Assuming it happens in Tampa today, why is a ticket that needs energy making a veep announcement that will be a Friday Night News Dump? She's not doing it early enough to take the news cycle away from Trump. The only advantage is Sunday show bookings, but nobody outside the beltway watches those (and fewer still are swayed by what they hear). The Friday night news dump is for things you want to hide, not trumpet. I hope they know what they're doing...

You do realize that our convention begins next week?

That will be the news then. If you can own even three days of the cycle ahead of it, why not?

I absolutely do not understand your "complaint."

With social media, the Friday news dump really does not exist anymore, especially the weekend
prior to DNC. She wisely wants to change the focus to the Dems and our vision of America.

That is a good strategy after the debacle last night. We all need some immediate uplift.

I mean, you know, seriously now, what is she thinking? She's like, an amateur, right? After all, since she's doing so poorly it's like she's trying to lose with beginner mistakes like this. You'd think she'd know better. I guess she just doesn't care. It's like she's given up and is just phoning it in.

I have never seen such minor nit picking turned into such grave concern.

I think some people enjoy worrying. They're seldom right about the things they worry over, but on the rarest of occasions that one of their worries actually materializes, they're they'll loudly proclaim "told-ya-so" (as if they are the keepers of all foreknowledge and wisdom ... but conveniently forgetting the 99.9% of the predictive misses).

In any case, I trust that Hillary and her team know what they're doing. It's unlikely that very much of ANYTHING they do at this point hasn't already been planned and scripted and scheduled and coordinated... especially the big moments like this.

Considering how PO'd Trump is about the timing of Hillary's VP announcement, it wouldn't surprise me at all if indeed she DID actually time the announcement to steal some of Trump's post-convention momentum.

She and her team are JUST that smart!

It immediately puts eyes back on her and then we move onto the convention.

Would you rather she did it during their convention? This weekend? Or at our convention?

Seems like the perfect time to me and we all have been stating we felt it would be done very soon after their convention ended. It simply makes sense.

has to operate under the normal rules of best time to place a news release?

Announcing today allows time for the choice to make the weekend news shows. It is made in advance of the convention starting Monday.

Unless Hillary had announced her choice before the RNC, today is the day one would normally make such an announcement.

2. She's stepping on Trump's post-convention new cycle, denying him all the headlines tonight.

3. Announcing it on a Saturday is worse, and waiting til Monday it gets buried by the convention.

Given that Trump is getting mostly negative coverage from the convention, it doesn't make sense for Hillary to steal his thunder.

...Friday after the GOP convention isn't a problem. Hard to imagine a better time.

The problem is the choice of Tim Kaine.

I positively want HRC elected as much as I want Trump defeated.

But Kaine, in my estimation, is a blunder.

So for me this is distressing news. We had a much better alternative in Warren.
