2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMy 92-year-old Republican mother says, "He's a creep."
That's what she says. She also says, "I'm going to vote for Hillary."
And there it is. The "Creep Effect" is going to play in our favor in 2016. It's going to play to win. There is no way for Der Drumpfenführer to be anything but creepy. He cannot help himself, because he is, fundamentally, a creep.
My mother, old as she is, has always been an very astute judge of character. She won't be alone in switching her vote, due to the Republican candidate's sheer creepiness.
We're going to win this election. My mother says so.

(28,762 posts)I would have called you but it is 12:30 your
time and I expect your both in bed. I went out and watered and got the car in the garage and I listened to the Republican Convention, I wanted to hear Trumps speech, he really makes
sense and how in the hell he is going to get everything done is going to surprise me if he does.
I'm in favor of a Wall between us and Mexico, the only thing they dig tunnels and hopefully he
has a solution for that. And send the illegal immigrants back to Mexico where they belong. I
also am in favor of bring our companies back that are overseas and in Mexico. The reason our
businesses are leaving is because they don't have to pay high taxes and can get labor so cheap.

(47,953 posts)"Labor so cheap" Wonder who she things are going to take those cheap labor jobs (Vietnam is averaging $150/month, that's what we are competing against for Trump shirt manufacturing) in the USA. Especially with a Wall. I guess it is just supposed to magically happen.

(6,551 posts)The Ohio Repub party has been working with Trump's people on GOTV efforts in Ohio. After Manafort's comment that Kasich "embarrassing his party in Ohio," those efforts are on hold.

(3,626 posts)it would require a massive shift away from Hillary in certain demographics (millennials, older voters, women) that one would expect at this point to mostly favor her, it would require severe letdowns in demos that definitively favor her (Hispanics and AAs and single women), and it would require a massive outpouring of white voters, a "silent majority" if you will.
All at the same time.

Now, if nothing serious happens, good chance Hillary wins.
But, the stupid is strong enough that it will keep the lunatic within reach that if something significant happens with security or the economy, the right will have a shot a bullying him in.
