2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIt's going to be a bumpy ride. This is only the first dump that's coming down the pike.
This is not a theory. Donna Brazile (DNC Vice-Chair and new Interim Chair) confirmed with Anderson Cooper on CNN that more e-mails are going to be released because the entire DNC e-mail database was hacked and stolen.
If our party wants to really put this issue to bed, we need full transparency and we need to relieve some staffers of their jobs. If there is anything more that is damaging in the remainder of the e-mails that are dumped, we're in for a long, rough ride through November.
Something's telling me that the next dump won't happen until we finally confirm Hillary as the nominee at the convention, by which point, we'll have her locked in.

(669 posts)Sorry, but to many undecided voters, this looks like a complete shit show, and if you haven't been paying attention, we're dealing with a candidate that has 67% of polled American voters viewing her as untrustworthy and dishonest.
There's nothing more that could hurt her than showing that her historic nomination is embroiled in a scandal where the national infrastructure (DNC) of the party she is representing in the general election tilted the scales in her favor to ensure her nomination.

(669 posts)Apparently, he isn't looking too bad to some of them, seeing as he's now leading in mainstream polls -- even in a couple of battleground states.
We have to get out in front of this, and now.

(4,311 posts)They are not on our side, especially not in this election cycle where Trump is likely to trail Hillary most of the time. They want a horserace and they will hammer and hammer on Hillary until they tie it up.

(669 posts)Whatever happens in Philadelphia, I will be voting for Hillary Clinton. I supported Senator Sanders, but I know that Donald Trump will be an unmitigated disaster as President. A third-party candidate would not win the electoral college, so Hillary is who I'm supporting, and I early vote (ALWAYS).
Unfortunately, politics involves navigating the media. We can either stick our heads in the sand about something that our own Interim Chair has confirmed, or we can work to get out in front of this so that it doesn't cause further damage.

(47,399 posts)and I care a lot. I am a Democrat and care about how the DNC operates. On the bright side, this will hopefully bring about some positive changes and higher standards in the future.

(5,754 posts)All of us have sent or received stupid emails. If I really want to contact someone, I text. My emails are mostly junk, even though I have spam filters. Russian hackers probably found a lot of spam.

(5,048 posts)At this point it's as much about appearances as anything else. Until I see more, I continue to believe these two out of 20,000 emails represent incredibly stupid lapses of judgement made in the heat of the moment.
But once the republicans, the ratfuckers and the M$M get their claws into the story - heads will have to roll. Regardless of any truth, appearances matter. I trust Donna and I'm sure she knows what must be done.

(30,481 posts)Renew our efforts in going after their dear rapist leader and the rest of the organization. They are now working to elect Trump. That is very clear. We need to look into Trump to see how far it goes.

(669 posts)Let's think, though, of what e-mails from his staffers could contain -- complaints about impartial treatment in the media, direct collusion of the DNC with mainstream media outlets releasing talking points in favor of Hillary Clinton, etc.
There are a lot of possibilities. My concern is not that any e-mails from Bernie Sanders to the DNC would be outed. My concern is how this will damage our nominee.

(19,460 posts)I have heard rumors that campaign emails from both sides were hacked.

(82,383 posts)Those emails were all not meant to be public, so it's kind of not fair to judge only some people on their intended not for public consumption emails.

(81,220 posts)Well, there's another point on the board for the RNC.
She's the most milquetoast low-energy individual I've ever seen or heard speak in politics. She was at a California Democratic Party convention a few years back, at which I was one of many volunteers. I heard her speak. If you ever have insomnia, make sure to have a recording of hers to play. It'll put you right out. She inspires nobody, and nothing. She fires up nobody, and nothing. She's NO "leader" to have at the helm when you have to go into battle. OY.
She was Gore's campaign manager. Gave him bad advice. Look how well that turned out.
Most Likely To Get ROLLED. GOD I hope she's temporary!!!!

(14,167 posts)There is going to be more damaging info. The Russian-backed actors are trying to be strategic in what they disseminate and when they release the information. This is unfortunate.
A joint statement must be released by the major parties (Clinton-Kaine-Sanders-DWS) to smooth this over. And, DWS needs to apologize, period. This isn't about her. It's about unity and defeating Trump.
