Nina Turner: "Dem Party needs to acknowledge pain of Sanders supporters." NO, Nina

This is not an encounter session or group therapy. It's a political convention. How long are we supposed to wipe these people's tears, hold their hands and kiss their boo boos?

This is ridiculous. These people need to effing grow up.

First of all, those little fuckers are NOT Dems.

Secondly, that shit was an embarrassment to the Repukes at their convention - and now a bunch of fucking feckless, spoiled-rotten, childish, snot-nosed, clueless, selfish, piss-ant little Green party vermin and other total fucking idiot drama queens have done 100x the damage here. They were disgusting, evil, rude anarchists and they have succeeded in making the Repuke convention look like a unity parade. FUCK them.

FUCK ALL THOSE SPOILED LITTLE SHITS. I hope every last one of the disruptors is thrown the fuck out.

149. What's this "you people" bit? The hate has been boiling over here for quite some time

it's even spawned a ancillary sites where the "left" keep showing just how much hate they are capable of, even if they're not so great at actually keeping their "Left" masks on. The ones doing all that frothy hate are not hating their own, they are indeed the "Right" or have given over any critical thought process that they might have possessed to the right this election, you can tell from all the hate that has been and is still spewed and the source of the talking points coming from these supposed members of the left.

45. Does anyone think Hillalry and her supporters felt less pain in 2008?

Hillary is a grown up. She nominated Obama at their convention, she worked her butt off for him during and after the election.

I acknowledge their pain as well as their disrespectful behavior even to him. The TPP plank that they wanted in the platform is a weak excuse for their over the top behavior. They can work against the TPP after the election. Their angst about TPP will be for naught if Donald is President because a GOP Congress will "make a deal" and it will be so "great" that Trump will not obstruct.

More sophisticated people might grab whatever power they could. Bernie people are commoners. If you don't hate the commoners, you gotta be patient with them. And listen.

165. Oh PLEASE. Those little fidiots on the convention floor have had their fee-fees coddled and nursed

quite enough. Enough with kissing their little participation-trophy asses, and their selfish little kiddie tantrums.

It's well past time - since they are actually, you know, on the floor of the Democratic Convention to learn something about the Democratic party, the democratic process, grace, decorum, and CLASS. It's time for them to listen, and they should start with listening to Bernie for cripes sake.

This sort of response is what is going to sink Clinton. You need to win over the Sanders supporters, not drive them away.
Your attitude is no different than the wife beater's, who insists he knows how to handle his wife.
If any growing up needs to be done, it is by people who are speaking like you are. This is a national discussion the future of America, not a barroom. If you want to infer people who have grave concerns about your weak candidate are somehow whiny bitches, then go to the bar. Acting like you are on a public forum is hurting Clinton, any you, no one else!

131. I agree, for at least two reasons

1) The first reason is just practical. You catch more flies with honey.

2) I assume she's referring to the fact that the DNC had its thumb on the scales the whole time, yet Bernie came thisclose after starting at about 5% in the polls. Who knows what would have happened if it hadn't been for the DNC's bias? I myself think Hillary would probably have won anyway, but we'll never know, will we? And that hurts, because a lot of people, myself included, felt as though real change was possible. And I think most people who supported Hillary in the primaries liked his ideas before many of them (not all) developed an antipathy towards him and/or his supporters... so it's not as though our hopes were bad ones.

I also feel kind of betrayed by the Democratic party. But whatever. I'll deal with it. That's on me--but a movement that meant so much to a lot of people has been shown to have meant, essentially, nothing to our party.

So yeah, it hurts. Our feelings are genuine. If it hadn't been for the emails, I'd have agreed that Yeah, we should just get over it. But it hurts to find out now that Bernie was fighting an uphill battle in more ways than one and still came so close.

Then they are the ones at fault.

This isnt prom king and queen. You weigh the two cadidates and pick the one you feel can do the better job even though they're not your first choice..

Honestly, this need to be patted on the head and acknowledged for your pain is exactly why you're not ready for the ugly game of politics - it is not for wimps.

From here: http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/news/national-govt-politics/dnc-2016-day-1-hot-temps-long-security-lines/nr4rb/

Already polls show more Sanders supporters are on board with Clinton than Clinton supporters were backing Barack Obama at this point eight years ago...

So, as always we have a very vocal minority pretending that they're much larger and more powerful than they really are—and that they're speaking for everyone when they're not.

70. Might have something to do with the treatment received at the hands of some Hillary supporters.

Almost 90% of Sander's supporters say they will vote for Hillary, yet there still has been a lot of ugliness spewed at them. Many of the posts here demonstrate how bad it has been. Not all Sander's supporters have been respectful either. I would suggest toning it down a great deal and things would go better.

The Primary was hard fought, but the two candidates have decided to work together and so should we. Let's stop with the "you lost so tough sh*t" and "they cheated" crap and move forward. This isn't 2008, and different issues exist

Hillary will be nominated and after a while everything will calm down. All of this harsh talk just drags it out longer. Everyone just needs to CHILL!!!

82. Sure seems like it to me. Not only acknowledged it, but gave them almost everything

they wanted on the party platform. And, now, too, DWS's head on a platter, for Pete's Sake!

AND, what bothers me a lot, mainly toward the coverage of all this - is that, whatever was said or emailed regarding oppositional research ideas against Bernie, this was TURNED DOWN!!! They ruled it out. They decided against it. And any read through a Hillary speech throughout the campaign would prove this. At NO time did she criticize or question his faith, for example. At NO time did she make any snide comments about him!

I would hope the protesters we saw getting ALL the press attention outside before the convention began were actually shit-stirrers, trouble-makers, and CON-trolls in disguise and with a wallet full of forged delegate papers. I can't help but suspect trolls at work. I can't believe that anyone who really believed in Bernie would actually boo him. Be rude and disrespectful like that to the guy they claim to support? How could they do that to him? How could they dishonor him like that? Seems to me doing that renders them deeply suspect. That doesn't make any sense at all. WWBD? Seriously. What Would Bernie Do? What would honorable, realistic, and thoroughly adult Bernie supporters, like those we see here, do?

What would the boo'ers do when a President Bernie Sanders told them something they didn't like? Boo him then, too?

148. Agree, she is certainly the most strident Bernie supporter almost to the point of being obnoxious.

You get the feeling she would be thrilled if HRC loses. Then she can say. "I told you so". Bernie started this fire and let it "Bern" out of control. Fine that he stayed in the primaries to the end, even though he had no chance of winning, but to then tell his supporters "We're taking this to the convention" We can still win". He created an unrealistic expectation for his followers. If they're upset at anyone it should be with Bernie. He led them down the garden path and at the end all there was, was a cliff.

</Sarcasm off>

Politics is about healing. It's about talking and bringing people together. In your heart you know you don't want us to be a bunch of locksteppers like those nincompoops conning themselves into believing Donald Trump is a true Christian or really any working class family believing the Republicans will improve their chances at sending their kids to college.

Let the slow noisy magic of airing grievances do its work for the next four days. I think the Democrats are good willed enough, and the Clinton machine is competent and smart enough, to turn the genuine worry about what's happening in this country into a commitment to come together and win.

Funny how whining by certain people is just "venting their pain" but complaints about the way they're expressing themselves is destroying unity.

Why is it that only some folks are responsible for creating unity while other folks doing everything they can to blow it all up just means they're being true to their cause, or some such BS.

Just like the supporters were claiming for months, but they were told to shutup and wear this tin foil hat. For months the Hillary supports talked down Sanders supporters, joked about thier crazy notions just because they believed the DNC was backing Hillary. Well they were right

Plus according to Donna Brazile they expect more emails to be released with far more damning info.

Look he got 46% of pledged delegates, without the DNC push he very well could have reached 50% or more.

Unless you have a T.A.R.D.I.S. we have to continue from this point, and make the best of everything we can. Yes that means voting for Hillary, but TPTB need to acknowledge the DNC did a very bad thing, promise to clean house at the DNC, and promise to install people in the DNC that will never let something like this happen again

61. Why not?

One thing really matters to me.. Trump not winning in November.

Who here has never had a candidate that they really.. Really... REALLY believed in, supported, and did everything they could to see them succeed, then watch them lose?

Try to placate those few that are swearing to go Trump now? I agree, screw those ones.

There's the demographic that now, no matter what won't vote Hillary.. We've seen some here. It won't win their votes or support, but outreach takes the power of their argument down a good bit.

Then there's the Demographic that now, will hold their nose and vote for Hillary in the GE. We've also seen a pretty good number of those here. For some of this Demographic, heartfelt outreach may get them more energized, and not just vote but help convince others to join in that vote.

Then there's the Demographic that now.. Not really sure one way or the other if they will or won't support Hillary. Good outreach has the potential to swell those numbers, probably the most of any demographic.

Goodwill costs nothing, has no downside, and can help bridge some of the division resulting from the rough primary season. If November ends up being close enough, it may even be the critical difference, especially in the swing states.

Hardline attitudes without any desire of reconcilliation.. Isn't that one of the things we really dislike about our opponents? We're the ones who believe in humanity. We're the ones who aren't supposed to have a problem saying "I'm sorry". Hell... We're the smart adults in the room normally.

You mistake one thing. Every one of these people ARE grown ups. The ONLY reason we're at this point in the election, can be blamed on the past 60 years of establishment politics, and the fact that people are done with it. They're sick of getting screwed by the establishment, over and over again. They've had it, and they do realize change starts from the bottom up. What better place than the convention? And they've also heard of "freedom of speech". So don't blame Sanders, nor their supporters. I knew this was going to be an issue when Bernie said he's going all the way to the end, months ago. Why is everyone so damn surprised in tonight's events?

I suspect many of these people are young and are all fired up. They still think if they work hard enough they'll get their way. That's great, but you have to be realistic. Sanders went a lot farther than a "Democratic Socialist" was ever expected to do. And drove the party platform to the left.
Now it's time to put on your big girl pants and work just as hard for Hillary to keep Trump from getting into the White House.

They did not get what they wanted (Bernie's nomination) so they're having a temper tantrum, and they can't see beyond themselves & how their tantrum can blow it for everyone.

Someone needs to tell them to grow up, and I hope Bernie can do that tonight.

So, what do they do to assuage the people who felt sold out, they make Ms. Schultz honorary chair of Hillary Clinton's campaign. They should have fired her and sent the rest of the DNC staff involved in this debacle packing as well.

112. If you plan to cast a default vote for Donald Trump to be the REAL president of the United States

because you don't like who Hillary has designated to be the HONORARY chair of her campaign, then I can't even take you seriously.

Good Lord, get over yourself. This is politics, not your personal fuzzy blankie.

111. Nice sentiment

Nice sentiment. Real compassion accompanied by obvious signs that you have not given the concerns of Sanders supporters any air time in your head at all. What's more, it is precisely the sort of sentiment that will drive Sanders supporters away and lose the election for Clinton. Good job Effie Black!

114. You have no idea to what and to whom I have given "air time in my head"

But if you are so willing to cast a default vote for a racist, misogynist, xenophobic, juvenile ignoramus because I haven't devoted enough "air time in my head" about you, please be my guest - the rest of us will focus on getting out the vote of people who are actually worth taking seriously. You are making yourself irrelevant.

Good job, Wibly!

117. That's going to help you a lot too

To even suggest Sanders supporters are going to vote for Trump makes you sound like one of Trump's henchmen.
You're blowing it for your own team!
Good job.

Now, prove my point and give me more of your vitriol. See if that makes me want to support your candidate!

119. Apparently, you don't understand what a "default vote" is.

So, I'll break it down for you: a "default vote" is exactly what you suggested Sanders supporters would do since not voting for Hillary is a default vote for Trump.

As I said, I really don't care what you do at this point. I have neither the time nor the inclination to argue with someone whom I don't know and will likely never meet, trying to convince them to do something that is so obvious that no one should have to explain it to them. If you still don't understand why you should vote for Hillary Clinton, it's not likely that anything I say will change your mind.

That's not "vitriol"- it's just plain common sense.

It's not Sheriff Arpaio's tent prison either.

Nobody wants anyone to "wipe these people's tears, hold their hands and kiss their boo boos?"

We want to be acknowledged and our ideas and concerns taken seriously because they are serious.

It's a political convention. You'd think constituents would be heard and addressed.
This high brow dismissal of Sanders supporters like you display has people running from your candidate.

121. Bernie Sanders seems to think he's been acknowledged and heard

And most of his supporters are also just fine. Sanders and the majority of his supporters aren't running away from our candidate. In fact, they're with her full on. But apparently, there's a handful of supporters who STILL think that the party is supposed to chase around after them kissing their asses.

That's not how campaigns work. And it's not even what Bernie Sanders wants. Maybe your beef is with HIM, not with the Clinton campaign.

That's not a "high brow dismissal" - that's just grownups being sick of crybabies demanding attention.

Your definitely high brow dismissal..... this:

"wipe these people's tears, hold their hands and kiss their boo boos? "

was not directed at Nina Turner.

Remember, Sanders supporters can read.

Get over it!!! Sage advice for the die hard bunch within the Sanders' supporters.

The thought of a Trump presidency makes me cringe. I would vote for a root vegetable over Trump.

Are these people fools or blind????????

159. I remember there were efforts to coddle Hillary's supporters in 2008

And despite her efforts to rewrite history, she did not immediately up and support Obama unequivocally with no conditions. I don't dispute that she ultimately showed a lot of grace and did everything she could to help him, but it took her and her supporters some time to get there.

141. Let's step back in time for a moment.

Hillary Clinton had a great deal of personal pain when Obama won the nomination in 2008. However, instead of asking the Democratic Party to help her with her pain, she endorsed Obama within hours of losing the California primary.

Then she went on the road, enthusiastically speaking for Obama and asking her supporters to support him, speech after speech, day after day, until Obama won the presidential election.

If Ms. Turner has a problem with her pain, she should check the yellow pages. There are long lists of therapists who can help her with her pain.

Just don't ask the Democratic Party to play therapist. We have a much important task - defeat Trump.

This is exactly what drives me crazy about some of them. If they are really serious they need to toughen up. I guarantee you our founding fathers, the women who fought for the right to vote, civil rights leaders, union organizers, etc weren't fragile little snowflakes.

152. It's not only about growing up. It's about fair play, from

their country and also from the DNC. The worst actors at that convention were not relatively young people who booed, but seasoned politicians and media who had done their best to rig it. http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028047987

If you claim not to understand the anger, maybe that's not 100% the problem of people who are angry.

160. If you replace the word "needs" with the phrase "would be wise," then she is unequivocally correct.

You cannot simultaneously plead for unity on the one hand and ridicule legitimate concerns as a "boo boo" on the other hand.

Hillary supporters like Nancy Pelosi agree that the concerns of some Sanders supporters are legitimate concerns.

Speaking for the DNC, long-time Hillary supporters like Donna Brazille agreed the emails were wrong.

Of course the DNC doesn't need to apologize; no one NEEDS to apologize (hell, Trump beat 16 generally more experienced opponents to win the Republican nomination without ever apologizing for any of his horrific misconduct - with that said, Trump is an asshole so maybe he's not a good role model).

Anyone who wants to build unity would be wise acknowledge the pain arising from a regrettable situation.
