Appreciation Thread For Elijah Cummings And Others Who Took One For The Team Today

delivering their speeches despite the obnoxious and unwarranted behavior of a group of emotionally stunted babies whose disgusting antics could have easily served to sabotage Day One of our convention.

Cummings et all stood tall, and spoke with dignity and perseverance. They didn't stoop to the low level of the hecklers, but kept their cool and delivered their messages for the benefit of the party.

What a contrast we saw between the dedicated adults in the room and the spoiled brats.

They don't get the notoriety of the big name speakers, but they sure demonstrated big league grace under fire.

Thanks to all of these unsung heroes!

He's a man of tremendous courage and principle, what happened to him today was a disgrace. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. Only a bunch of classless jackasses would do that to him. Here was a man who was nearly beaten to death for what he stood for, and these whiny crybabies disrespected him, because they didn't get what they wanted.

Made me both angry and sick at heart. Thanks again for this thread!

18. I love Elijah (and like King), but so-called NoFlyNoBuy is an indefensible position IMHO ...

Until such time as citizens can readily and freely:
1) Find out that they're on the 'no-fly' list, and
2) Why they are on said list, i.e. what the specific charges or circumstances are, and
3) The specific criteria for what lands a person on the 'no-fly' list are spelled out, and
4) All citizens are granted a completely free legal forum with which to contest that designation ...

... then as much as I HATE how ridiculously UNrestricted our gun sales are in this country, I cannot in good conscience support the 'NoFlyNoBuy' concept.

If it goes into effect, what we're talking about here is a secret government list that says 'you don't get to buy a gun, cause we said'. It's just not Constitutional. It deserves to 'lose', as concept. And it's being leveraged as a cheap means of political grandstanding by our own party.

Come to think of it, I feel the exact same way about the 'no-fly' list to begin with ... even leaving firearm purchases out of the equation.
