I've settled on my nickname for Trump.

For a long time, I've mostly stayed away from giving Donald Trump a cutesy nickname. It seems to be too much of his own schtick, and I didn't really want to sink to his level. As funny as (Adjective) Donald or (Adjective) Trump or Donald the (Adjective) or even Drumpf (his ancestral name) might be, I really didn't feel the need to play that game.

However, I think I've settled on my name for Trump.

The Madman.

I think it speaks perfectly to the danger he poses to this country. Even the worst Presidents we've had in the past couldn't accurately be described as being "mad." Crooked, inept, compromised, yes. But we've not yet had our Mad President yet, and I hope we never will.

The thing is, it's not that Donald Trump is merely mentally ill. Millions and millions of Americans suffer from mental illness on a regular basis, and they pose no danger to anyone (except occasionally themselves, tragically). Donald Trump's condition is not depression or anxiety or bipolar or any relatively benign condition. Instead, Trump exhibits the clear signs of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, one of the so-called "Cluster B" conditions. People with NPD are notoriously toxic in their relationships with others and to others. They pay their fellow person little regard because they believe they and they alone deserve all the attention, praise and accolades. And they will work to achieve that goal, and people often get hurt in that process.

So "madman" accurately sums that up, in my opinion. Additionally, it works on a double level. For not only does "mad" mean maliciously insane, but it also means angry and temperamental. And those too are characteristics that also quite accurately describe Donald Trump.

So from now on forward, Donald Trump is the Madman to me.
