2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'm not a democrat, but you have to hate America with a deep passion
If you do anything on election day that would give a POS like Trump even a remote opportunity of getting election.
I am not voting for Hillary simply because a vote for Hillary is a vote against Trump ... even though that would be a good enough reason in and of itself.
I am voting for Hillary because there has not been a more qualified candidate to run for President in my lifetime and maybe never again.

(11,175 posts)The non-Hillary candidates, combined, will probably pull 60 million votes, more or less.
Compare 2012: Romney 61 million, Johnson 1 million, others 1 million.
Even if this year turns into a rout, there will still be scores of millions of Americans on the other side. I'm not prepared to say that all those people "hate America with a deep passion" just because they disagree with me.

(10,952 posts)than a sack of rocks. It is clear that Trump:
1. Has no understanding of the US Constitution
2. Has no understanding of the American legal system
3. Has no clue about world affairs
4. Does not have the temperment to serve as President and Commander in Chief
5. Consistently exhibits distain for anybody and anythit that fails to worship at the feet of Trump
6. Believes that the Geneva Convention is out moded
7. Consistently supports and praises Putin
8. Has no problem with Russia taking back the Crimean region
9. Would ditch NATO an our responsibilities towards our allies without a backward glance
10. Would risk losing our ties with the very allies who work with us on developing intelligence on terrorist groups (why on earth would they want to share intelligence data with a Trump WH)
11. Is like the emperor with no clothes who thinks that he doesn't have to actually reveal what he plans to do and how he plans to do ti.
and so on and so on and so on.
The anti-Hillary crowd are so rabid that they lose any sense of rational thought. This is what allows someone like Trump to suceed because he can run a smoke and mirrors campaign.

(68,553 posts)If you vote Trump you are most likely a racist POS who hates present day American and wants to return to Jim Crow or even slavery (wage slavery is still slavery). The exceptions are those whom the global economy has left behind. Now what many who don't live in the rust belt don't get is that there are jobs in Ohio where I live and other such states where we depend on trade. China sneezed this year and the entire Ohio steel industry caught a cold. Virginia depends on trade as well...it is no longer a clear-cut issue but the transition certainly hurt blue collar and white collar workers...and agreements must preserve sovereignty and be enforced as to worker's rights. But Trump voters ...many are vile people and do hate modern America. They want to return to a time that never existed. The rest are simply desperately fearful and deluded as to what Trump would really do.

(9,112 posts)"You need to understand how painful this is for me, a lifelong Republican.
I watch as that man exhibits behavior none of us would tolerate from children. I listen to him use infantile rhetoric to describe and deride men and women on both sides of the aisle who have spent most of their adult lives actually serving us.
His behavior is so unacceptable, so despicable, that it deeply saddens me.
I watched every debate as he chided and ridiculed other Republicans in the most vicious, childish ways and it now breaks my heart when I realize that he is actually my candidate for President.
In my opinion, ANY of the other Republicans would be a better candidate. And, even more painful for me is to realize that so many of my fellow Republicans consider him a savior. He may be the least qualified person EVER to be a serious candidate for President.
And I cannot, and will not, vote for Hillary. These are tough times at my house."

(7,581 posts)understand how deep the Hillary hate goes.
My mother, MIL, brother and sister-in-laws, all from a borough of NYC, don't like Trump, but hate Hillary. My rural neighbors in upstate NY, some smart teachers I work with, don't like Trump but hate Hillary. People here blow me off when I say this, saying they know people who now like Hillary, but that hasn't been my experience. The best we can hope for is they leave the top of the ticket blank. No vote for either. Cause I could show them a mountain of evidence that Hillary is qualified and they aren't voting for her. I don't understand it, but that is what I see.

(9,112 posts)But was met with an immediate negation based on CNN as the source. Not by the person I quoted above though. I responded that before the Ailes News Network came along 20 years ago, we were all better off.
Just think about where we would be without FNC....
