I'm a 49 year old curmudgeon.... and this line made me cry

"Time and again, you've picked me up. An I hope, sometimes, I picked you up too." - Barack Obama, Ju.ly 27, 2016

You were the first candidate I actually ever sent money to..... December of 2007. I worked my ass off for you to win in 2008 and 2012.

I've never been more proud of any person that I've never personally met.

Yes, Barack. You picked me up many times over the past 8 years too.

I've been around a decade longer and I still consider my going all in for Obama in 2008 the closest I've come to feeling I had a voice.

It's one reason I get mad at uncompromising lefties. Obama has showed us how you get progressive change some, one bloody step at a time. There's no "revolution" needed or possible. This is a diverse county. It includes rich people and conservatives and they are citizens too. It includes racists and xenophobes. Somehow you need to move a mountain one grain at a time.

It upsets the purists, but Obama understood it better than most. So did the greatest of American philosophers and political thinkers.

5. Obama has been an Awesome President!

Obama has been an awesome president! He has faced more obstacles and accomplished more in his presidency than almost any other president! He has been disrespected because of the color of his skin. He had to deal with a horrible Congress and more than his share of world problems, but was able to resolve a lot of issues and is leaving office with the second highest approval rating of any president in the last 50 years! Much love to President Obama and his wonderful wife, Michele and their daughters!

How lucky we are to have shared his extraordinary presidency-- two terms isn't nearly long enough. It was as if he were saying goodbye tonight-- and I was so touched. I'll never forget him.

We are incredibly lucky that we have had this experience with the entire Obama family...

He's too damn brilliant to not continue to spread it around-- he's still got so much to offer!!

I feel extraordinarily privileged to be living through this incredible time.

I've never exactly been the patriotic type: it so often feels tribalistic. Instead I've proudly embraced being a citizen of the world.
President Obama actually makes the sparkler of national pride that sputters in my heart burst into a fireworks display.
He has been a source of great joy, pride & emotional support throughout his Presidency, & I (cynical, jade-souled snarker that I am) believe him when he says we lift him up.
I'm going to miss our First Family, & cannot wait to see what they do next.
Now I have to go get another box of tissues because I just re-watched his speech.

You are not eligible to be a curmudgeon at 49

Curmudgeonhood is an honor which caan only be earned once you are eligible for your AARP card.

Until then you are just an a******
