To Win, Hillary Should Be Like Bernie, New Poll Suggestshttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/new-poll-hillary-should-be-like-bernie_us_579ab05de4b08a8e8b5d79be?section=
Unsurprisingly, millennials, people of color and unmarried women ― all key Democratic constituencies ― strongly preferred both stronger together messages over the Trump-like nationalist economic one.
But the three groups also favored the stronger together + rewrite the rules by a larger margin than the stronger together + build on progress message.
Fifty-nine percent of millennials, 67 percent of minority voters and 54 percent of unmarried women viewed the rewrite the rules message positively. By contrast, 45 percent of millennials, 53 percent of minorities and 52 percent of unmarried women liked the build on progress message.

I'm flummoxed by the uptick in truthiness among some Democrats. Did we catch that from the influx of Republicans to the party?

When they say things are not going well, they know what theyre talking about, Stiglitz said on Thursday, before sharing a series of statistics to substantiate his point.
The median income of a full-time male worker is lower than it was 42 years ago, he added. The real wages at the bottom are roughly comparable to where they were 60 years ago.
Regardless of Clintons political options, Stiglitz, Greenberg and many progressives in the audience expressed a hope that she will pursue a more populist path to the White House, which they believe will create the political rationale for a progressive agenda once she is in office.

Whether a "rewrite the rules" narrative has any future will depend on how many actually stick with it.

and so, an awful lot of young people, in their first experience with national politics, were left totally unprepared for the obvious, inevitable reality. Instead of being prepared and equipped to carry on the message, they, quite predictably, reacted the way we all witnessed this week.
I don't blame them for their naiveté; I blame their experience political leaders, who knew better.

One caller with an Arizona area code called to blast the DNC for putting Sanders surrogate Cornel West on the platform drafting committee.
Im furious for what you are doing for Bernie Sanders, another caller says in a message. Hes getting way too much influence.
What I see is the Democratic Party bending over backwards for Bernie, adds the caller, who threatens to leave the party if the DNC doesnt stop coddling the Vermont senator.

Sanders plans to start organizations to work at the grass roots level to make sure candidates can get funding to run without corporate money.

Sanders plans to support at least 100 candidates running for a wide range of public offices from local school boards to Congress at least through the 2016 elections. And hell continue to raise funds for candidates while campaigning for them all over the country. He said he probably will campaign for Tim Canova, a progressive primary challenger to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, who chairs the Democratic National Committee.
If we are successful, what it will mean is that the progressive message and the issues that I campaigned on will be increasingly spread throughout this country, Sanders said. The goal here is to do what I think the Democratic establishment has not been very effective in doing. And that is at the grass-roots level, encourage people to get involved, give them the tools they need to win, help them financially.

Bernie Sanders has inspired thousands of supporters to express interest in running for political office.
After the Vermont senator made an impassioned plea to his supporters during a Thursday-night webcast to carry the "political revolution" forward, his campaign released a statement claiming that nearly 6,700 of his people said that they'd be interested in seeking elected office.
The supporters went to a portal on Sanders' campaign website, BernieSanders.com/win, and signed up to receive more information about running at the local or state level.
The campaign said that roughly 11,000 expressed interest in either running or volunteering to help other Sanders supporters run. ...

And there no false expectations at least for anyone that took the time to listen to him speak. The anger is due to the unfairness as exemplified by the the unfair treatment by the DNC as acknowledged by the Democratic party leadership as well as trust issues due to things in the past that many of us are trying to get past right now.

(91 posts)I don't think that Bernie will run for the Presidency again. My hope is that Hillary wins and beats Trump badly. That said, it is also my hope that Hillary listens to the 12 million people who voted for Bernie in the Primaries. They are part of her constituency too.
My expectation is that Bernie will continue to lead the Political Revolution from the Senate. His goal will be to assert the Progressive Agenda. I think also he will help support new Progressive Candidates who are running for office.
For example, we have a great Progressive Candidate for Congress in New York named Zephyr Teachout. She is Progressive like Bernie. It is our hope that more and more Progressives will run for Office and win.
This is a political force that we hope Hillary will acknowledge if she wins. The Sanders Progressives could be great Allies with the more centrist Clinton Democrats, and could also help Hillary push her Policies through Congress.
I think it is time for us to come together to fight Trump and his kind. We Sanders Progressives and Clinton Center Left folks.

(20,043 posts)HOWEVER, just like choosing to demolish and build from scratch rather than remodel, sometimes that is the quickest, easiest and most cost efficient way to get what you want.
So, for example, while Obamacare was a Big Fucking Deal as Uncle Joe said, we still pay far more than countries that have single payer systems and get far less in terms of quality of care and number of people covered.
