Last night Donald was in the depressive phase of manic-depressive mental illness-today he is in the manic phase. I watch some of him earlier. It was bizarre! Wish the cables would have continued broadcasting for the world to see!

CNN finally shuts down Donald Trump after he brags about hiring illiterate contractors

If Donald Trump’s first speech today after the conclusion of the two national conventions was a good indicator of where he intends to take his general election campaign for the rest of the summer, that direction is just as confusing as when the day began. Trump held an event in Colorado in which he more or less rambled about random topics with little coherency or sentence structure. At one point, after he began bragging about how he hires illiterate contractors, CNN finally felt compelled to pull the plug.

“Some of the richest people in this country are people that can’t even read or write,” Donald Trump told an audience of supporters while insisting that he could have built a local hospital more quickly than it had been built. “They’re called friends of mine. Contractors.” In case Trump hand’t made sufficiently clear that he was attempting to insult his own friends and the people he hires, or in case anyone might have thought that he misspoke when he accused them of being illiterate people, he made a point of repeating himself: “They might not read or write, but they’re a lot smarter than the guys coming out of Harvard, let me tell you.”

Trump attempted to follow this up by beginning to ramble about Swedish people at the United Nations, but before he could tell the story, CNN cut him off. “We’re going to continue to monitor Donald Trump and get back to him once he gets into some more substance,” interrupted Wolf Blitzer while cutting away to Senator Dianne Feinstein instead...............

The convention really got to him. I love watching him self-destruct.*

*Actually, I like hearing about it, but watching him in real time makes me nauseous.

He held it together long enough to get through his big speech at the pub convention, but after that, whoa!

Go, The Donald! One way or another, America's loving your stream of consciousness.

Politico: The Cry-Bully: The sad mind and evil media genius behind @realDonaldTrump.

Trump was older than 60 when he started tweeting, a celebrity with a public personality that had been formed for years. Not so @realDonaldTrump. The Twitter feed The Donald made in his image has had an arc, a growth curve. At first, @realDonaldTrump was fairly edgeless, a chirpy self-promoter and dispenser of warmed-over inspirational quotes. There were flashes, of course, clues as to where Trump would go, politically, tonally, emotionally. Later, as @realDonaldTrump matured and grew in reach, I began to think of my companion as an insane child king, like Joffrey Baratheon from Game of Thrones. But that was later. First, it had to discover the one thing it was unequivocally, freakishly good at.

I would have thought that to be a contractor for Trump he'd be more concerned about you not being able to count than read. Maybe both, that's way Trump can make you sign a BS contract that he pays you half of what he said he did.

The literacy rate in the US is only 86%, so this is actually not a joking matter, and I bet there are many extremely intelligent people in the country who can't read.

I was listening to my XM Insight station (121) as they were taking calls from potential voters. One caller said he was leaning toward Trump but hadn't made up his mind (he had watched both conventions)...I know, mind boggling. The host explained that there were many law suits against Trump for not paying people who had worked for him. Even some contractors had gone out of business trying to fight Trump in court. He carefully explained how Trump would hire a small business contractor, the contractor would complete the work and not get paid. When contractor would complain about not being paid, Trump or one of his people would say that they weren't satisfied with the work and would pay some lower price for the work. The contractor, having already paid his workers, would agree and than wait to receive the lower payment. In many cases even the lower payment was not made on time and then the Trump organization would come back with a still lower payment and warn the contractor not to sue because Mr. Trump had so many lawyers working for him that the contesting contractor would not be able to afford taking him to court.

After explaining all this, the host asked would something like that help him make up his mind about voting for Trump. The caller's response: Well, yeah, that MIGHT make him think twice about it.

Go figure! These are the kind of people who are out there to vote,

As the campaign gets into high gear, he will have to combat fatigue. We all know when a person is fatigued, they make bad decisions. Trump has not had to work a hard day in his life. He won't follow advice, because he really believes he is the smartest one in the room. He follows his gut. Hitler had the same complex, he ignored his generals which cost the German Army dearly. He followed his general's advice during the invasion of France, when that was successful, he then took full credit and dismissed the fact it was the German generals who had come up with the plan.

of a campaign. He appears to have avoided the traditional primary schedule of endless handshakes ( have we seen him on a rope line?) and pancake breakfasts etc. of course he's never had much of a staff so there were no shots of him taking coffee to his young charges - not that he would. He was able to avoid these because he had wall-to-wall media coverage and the unprecedented phone-in interviews.

Now he has to do the show almost everyday and if it ends up as there is every indication that it will he is going to have to throw Hail Mary's and haymakers. It could get out of control.

Perhaps he has learned to count on that from voters. Sorry the Donald, Democrats for Clinton/ Kaine read very well.

Of course that's not also to say he couldn't have psychosis as well. And the m/d thought is interesting. I'm imagining his handlers all leaping on him -- quick, grab him! -- when he's "down."

Trump keeps validating the thought of "my ignorance is just as important as your intelligence." Those who fit into the former category are getting validation, and therefore love him.
