talking about how the Repugs stonewalled and voted against anything President Obama was for and that they are to blame for much of the economic problems we have.
Now we have Trump talking about infrastructure jobs that when President Obama pushed for this the Repugs killed it.
Why isn't Hillary saying more about winning back the Senate and the House?
Why isn't she talking about gerrymandering and breaking the gridlock?
It seems to me that this is a missed opportunity.
I don't mean to single out only Hillary as all the Dems should be out there talking this up.
Is there a reason they are avoiding this discussion that I am missing?

(4,187 posts)Talking about gerrymandering and gridlock is intrinsically negative. It would come across as complaining. Given that she has the edge right now, and that Trump is running a fear-and-loathing campaign, it is in Hillary's best interest to run a positive and high-minded campaign.
The goal is to win this. Once the race is won, we can focus on doing something about gerrymandering and breaking the gridlock.

(25,242 posts)there is a good chance that the Dems can even win back the house. So in my mind it is important to inform The American People of the reality of this and ask them to vote Dem in the down ticket races - the House and Senate - so that we can break the gridlock.
Just like a salesman asking for the sale - I believe the Dems and Hillary need to inform The American People and ask for their vote.
We can't let Trump and the Repugs define this race. The Dems need to do the defining. There's plenty of video footage out there to illustrate the stonewalling to make a lot of campaign ads.

(17,108 posts)You're right, there was great laying out of information to allow people to make up their own minds. But most stopped short of actually asking people for their vote, and pointing out that both houses need to be supportive for anything to happen.
Like you said, it's like a salesman asking for the sale. We need to complete the process by asking for the vote. It's pretty basic stuff.

I'm not sure how you can say she needs to address winning back congress. She does often and also works her ass off to help fund their campaigns.
Seems to be a disconnect in your op.

(5,969 posts)I'm sure she will stress the importance of the House and the Senate. But complaining about gerrymandering, fillibuster-proof majorites and the reluctance of the repub Congress to work for the better of the country, would be interpreted as whining and not leading. And some of these issues might not be easily understandable for those not that interested in how politics work.
