Sanders supporters: Back Clinton to Defeat Trump

http://www.coloradoan.com/story/news/2016/07/30/sanders-supporters-back-clinton-defeat-trump/87743694/

Nick Coltrain, nickcoltrain@coloradoan.com 1:52 a.m. MDT July 31, 2016

In a state where Democrats went for Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton by a 60-40 vote, and in a county where the pro-Sanders divide was 67 percent to 33 percent, U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley had a simple message: He, as a Sander's supporter, has hopped over to supporting Clinton, and those in Colorado should do the same.

"The visions of the Sanders campaign have been incorporated into the most progressive platform we've ever seen; they've been incorporated into the DNA of the presidential campaign," Merkley, a Democrat from Oregon, said Saturday. "So if Hillary and Bernie can work together, can't all of us who were ready for Hillary, and those of us who were voting for Bernie — feeling the Bern — make sure we come together and win this election?"

Merkley spoke Saturday at Avogradro's Number in Fort Collins as part of a statewide unity tour for the campaigns. Clinton, a former U.S. senator and secretary of state, formally accepted the Democratic presidential nomination Thursday. Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont who challenged her for the candidacy, formally nominated Clinton at the party's national convention in Philadelphia.

That show of unity hasn't seeped throughout the party yet.

And, one less vote for Hillary to keep this dangerous madman out of office.

This is honesty an election for the greater good.

I liken "Meme Hillary" to Eastwood's "Empty Chair Obama". Made up Strawman versions that bear no relations to the actual people.

10. Not a good way to persuade people and I think it is unfair.

I will say that I beleive the 25 year smear campaign against HRC has been very effective.

For many folks out there, that's all they know. GOPers have insured the lies have become 'common knowledge'.

I can't blame people if that's all they ever heard, because the lies are ubiquitous as air.

IMHO better to counter the negative memes with the truth about HRC's record and long history of public service to make people's lives better.

JMHO, your mileage may vary

You either know how to exercise critical thinking skills or you don't. A vote for anyone else or abstaining from voting other than Hillary Clinton, The Democratic Nominee....your result is President Trump....

But we're off to a good start. Hopefully the hackers and wikileaks won't reveal anything that could lead to mutiny. I expect more unpleasant emails, but nothing that will impact overall support.

While there is a chance and a choice, Dr. West supports Jill Stein.

But when it is realistically just Hillary or Trump, Dr. West is stepping up!

I don't have to agree with him.

If he - and any other Bernie supporters - vote for Hillary, I don't see that tarnishing Hillary.
