Remember when Hillary attacked the Gold Star mom, Patricia Smith who called her a murderer?
Me either.

4. Hillary has addressed that issue
with dignity, respect, and her deepest condolences. She has already comforted families back when she was first lady. Trump is a miserable failure at the most basic of presidential duties.

He has no compassion for those suffering and grieving, he's for killing families of terrorists, not as collateral damage, but as a weapon, and believes in torturing people.

5. May be a quibble
But her son was not a member of the military and do she's not a gold star mother.
Doesn't minimize her loss. |

7. Very dishonest characterization. She NEVER "attacked" her.
But I will. Mrs. Khan's dignity, decency and reason in grief are the complete counterpoint to Mrs. Smiths' extremely indecent, irrational, and undignified preexisting Hillary Derangement Syndrome on steroids.

12. That was the OP's point.
Hillary didn't attack her.
In other words, she's a rational human being. Donald Trump isn't. |

10. great analogy!
Hadn't thought about that, and it is similar (or in fact Smith was way OTT insulting, much more than Khan). Just shows the difference between the two. Or the difference between normal politicians and Donald).

11. A friend of mine tried to conflate the two.
"And Hillary owes Pat Smith an apology!"
All I could say was - well, the Khans didn't yowl and scream that Donald Trump should be shot, jailed, or sent to burn in Hell. Also, yeah, this may be nit-picking, but does Pat Smith qualify, technically, as a Gold Star Mother? That wasn't technically a "war" - what went on in Benghazi that night. Is it a title specifically given to a mother who lost her son in war? Also, I do not claim to know every last detail about that event, but what I do remember is - the entire Middle East seemed to be enflamed by that anti-Muslim video or film that some wrong-winger put together and released, specifically to enflame the Muslim world. And MAN was there a reaction. Benghazi happened DURING THAT WHOLE OUTRAGE, as I recall. My recollection might not be complete, but I do remember the coverage of lots of outrage, lots of protests, lots of angry crowds in the streets in Middle Eastern cities. It was all touched off by the release of that film/video. |

13. I had the thought that her son
must have been a State Department Employee? If so he worked for Hillary there and bravely took the risks of being in a place like that.
It is so irrational to say Hillary killed them - I guess this is one instance in which the actual Islamic terrorists are given a complete pass. As if Hillary hired them. |

14. What I tweeted to Carol Costello at CNN:
NO ONE remembers early intel coming in from Benghazi WHILE Muslim world was on fire over that offensive film? CONTEXT! NOT "lie"!
It's just a damn shame. Doesn't anybody remember that film? It was deliberately meant to be provocative and offensive to Islam and released to stir shit up. As I recall, it seemed as though the entire Arab world was enflamed. There was a HUGE uproar. There were protests, angry crowds, fires and civil unrest in the streets, all over the Middle East. And in those situations, intel from those areas is spotty, unconfirmed, and it takes awhile to get to the bottom of things. Seems to me, anyway, that it was an easy connection to make - that Benghazi was another episode of the intense and violent reaction to that film. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Given what else was going on all over that region, as a result of that film, seems like a reasonable assumption to make. And when there's tremendous widespread civil disruption like that, it takes awhile to sort through the rumors and bits of intel and whatever information can be confirmed or discounted. It takes awhile to get to the bottom of things and find out the truth. So to claim that because Hillary didn't have all the confirmed, vetted intel to make an informed opinion about what had happened and what set it off, that means she lied? WTF? Or is this just another situation in which Hillary must not ever be given the benefit of the doubt? Am I crazy? Am I remembering incorrectly? 'Cause that's what I remember from watching that coverage. The whole Arab world was up in arms. People were beyond outraged. I think I remember Cairo being one of the cities that was literally in flames. I mean - it was pretty damn vivid television. And I remember thinking that as I watched it. Why would it be unreasonable, in the few days immediately after the Benghazi attack (when I believe she meet with the families), to assume that this stemmed from more outrage about that horrible anti-Islam propaganda film? Why does that get turned into "she LIED!"? (Well, never mind, I KNOW the answer to that one.) |
