IN-GOV: The race is a tie.

In the governor’s race, Pence’s replacement on the ballot, Republican Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb, is running only one point ahead of Democrat John Gregg, 42 percent to 41 percent. Gregg, who lost narrowly to Pence four years ago, entered the race expecting a rematch with the governor before Trump chose a running mate.

The establishment Republicans "promoting out" a governor who was upside-down in his approval ratings and in danger of taking the whole state down with him.

And that may well be true. But I never looked at Pence too closely until today, when another DUer pointed out that Pence is a former conservative radio firebrand, and I realized that he's just one more of the guys Trump is training up to form his new television network, supported in no small part with Republican campaign cash.

Trump is a deeply stupid person but someone taught him early and well that the way to get ahead is to get someone else to pay for everything you do.
