Stephen K. Bannon, the new CEO of the Donald Trump campaign, was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, battery and dissuading a witness following an incident in early January 1996, though the case was ultimately dismissed, according to a police report and court documents.
The Santa Monica, Calif., police report says that Bannons then-wife claimed he pulled at her neck and wrist during an altercation over their finances, and an officer reported witnessing red marks on her neck and wrist to bolster her account. Bannon also reportedly smashed the phone when she tried to call the police.
While the case ended when Bannon's ex-wife did not appear in court, the incident presents a new problem for the Trump campaign following the hiring of the controversial Bannon. He went on leave from Breitbart News, where he is chairman, to take over the Trump campaign.
Bannon, through a spokeswoman, said he was never interviewed by the police about the incident. Bannon pleaded "not guilty" to the allegations and was represented by a local criminal defense attorney during the proceedings.

(2,897 posts)Stephen K. Bannon, the new CEO of the Trump campaign, grabbed his then-wife Mary Louise Piccard by the throat and arm, and threatened to take the girls and leave, referring to their twin daughters, according to a declaration she filed in their divorce case, which began in the mid-90s.
I took the phone to call the police and he grabbed the phone away from me throwing it across the room, and breaking it as he [was] screaming that I was a crazy fing ct! according to the document.
Police responded to the New Years Day, 1996, clash, and wrote up a report and took pictures of the victims injuries, the document said.
Bannon then got his lawyer on the case, who allegedly threatened Piccard and told her she would have no money [and] no way to support the children if the case went to trial.

(5,611 posts)given Trump's horrible numbers with women and the explicit links with the infamous alt-right now. I wouldn't be shocked if Bannon disappears in an explicit capacity. He will still of course work for him behind the scenes.

Trump himself once raped his first wife, so he won't care about this, and neither will the idiots who support him.
