Any chance Texas might go blue in November ?

I did the electoral map exercise in a thread here, and I said Texas would go blue, only because Trump is so profoundly alienating the Latino vote. However, I don't live there and I could easily be wrong.

Texas DU'ers, how is it looking ? Thanks in advance.

Unless things change for some reason, it looks like Texas is Trump country by a few percentage points.

However, if Republican turnout is depressed and Democratic turnout is high, that could change. GOTV for Hillary!

Gerrymandering will be successful for the GOP even in heavily populated Hispanic communities like my own town.

I think we've got another 10 to 20 years before Texas is seriously in play. Demographics are shifting, but it'll take time.

Edited to say: Sorry, meant to respond to OP. Agree with your point.

But the massive (and I mean massive) voter registration campaigns and ad buys will be directed at smaller states for the next few years. I don't the Dems will work on TX until they've made some major inroads in similar states like Arizona first. Lessons learned there would serve as a good base to plan for D-Day.

Until then our best shot is to get someone like Mark Cuban to run as an Independent for governor.

They do appear to have some smarts so it'll be interesting to know what's really going on in their minds, that is, if they can possibly embrace the lunatic leader of their party.

One of my neighbors tried to engage me in a political conversation about a month ago. I respectfully declined. They all know I'm a Democrat.

And I'm confident that my part of Texas is every bit as right-wing as is yours. In all likelihood, Trump will take the state, this time around---but a blue Texas is inevitable.

If what I'm hearing from friends in other areas is true, a lot of Republicans will be quietly defecting. With investment from the campaign--ads, field offices, swag--and a massive GOTV effort, I think it's possible.

turn Texas blue ... like http://www.battlegroundtexas.com/ ... they have been in Texas for a couple of years at least.

I think Texas will be closer than expected, but will likely go for Trump. His lack of a ground game and a few million pissed off Hispanics could tip the state blue this year but it's a tall order.
