2016 Postmortem

Former congresswoman and regular predictor of the impending apocalypse Michele Bachmann said in a Friday interview that the 2016 presidential race would be the countrys last election.
I don't want to be melodramatic but I do want to be truthful, the evangelical Christian said in an interview on the Christian Broadcasting Networks Brody File. I believe without a shadow of a doubt this is the last election. This is it. This is the last election.
Bachmann, who advises Donald Trump on religious issues and foreign policy, explained that demographic change in the United States posed a disadvantage to Republican candidates since the countrys growing share of minority voters were more inclined to vote for Democrats.
It's a math problem of demographics and a changing United States, she said. If you look at the numbers of people who vote and who lives in the country and who Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton want to bring in to the country, this is the last election when we even have a chance to vote for somebody who will stand up for godly moral principles. This is it.

(58,785 posts)and he's still around. So Bachmann's unhappy and foreseeing further decline of her power bloc. At least that's a good augur, even if she's able to continue to make a living with speaking engagements.

(3,587 posts)2020 is (almost) more important than 2016 in that is when the Census is going to be done (2010 was the last one, it is done once a decade). And this is important because that would be when the districts are redrawn.
I wish the party in power didn't determine the outcome (for a fair division of districts), but apparently it does.
But what I do think is the most important issue in 2016 is the Supreme Court with 1 actual vacancy at the time of the election (unless something happens in congress between now and election day - which is doubtful), and a possibility of more openings in the next 4 years.
So much is on the line this cycle and the next. Which way will our country go?

(58,724 posts)I guess it's just a question of where the "Independents" want to go.
Demographic trends certainly favor the Democratic Party, that is for sure.

You don't want to miss that! [/sarcasm]
The code words are all but gone.
But even she basically admits that racism has become a minority that is about to lose it's voice in the Oval Office forever.
Now we have to get the hateful, racist pricks out of congress.
When they lose Texas to the inevitable demographics shift, they'll start to sing another tune, veiling their hate.
