I've been saying for months that the American people foolishly blame all of their problems on the government and on the media. Well, this November 8, the American people can't point to the government or the media. The American people know all they need to know about Trump. This November 8 is SOLELY on the American people and no one else.

3. Yes. Litmus test is the phrase I've been using for months.

Did you catch Rachel Maddow's 15 minute US history lesson after Trump's frothing at the mouth hate rant when he got back from Mexico? We've been here before, by her count 3 times, when a major party decays and collapses. And this is what happens -- secret societies, the Know Nothings, the Klan, and now Trumpism. It's ugly as sin, what grows in that space when the center cannot hold.

But when I listened to it a second time, I found her words oddly consoling. We've been here before -- but the country has eventually righted itself, each time.

I don't know how long it will take, and as with the Bush Junior presidency, I think it's a test of our collective soul. It's possible we will fail the test. I hope we right ourselves in the end. I just hope, at my age, that I live to see my country find its center again.

but there will still be plenty of depraved, selfish money-grubbers and hate-mongers in congress and state legislatures. Just defeating Trump is not enough. We have to keep working to replace them with more progressive representatives.
