2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs it possible that the Clinton Camp is saving up the juiciest Trump scandals for the homestretch?
That would be great. The Pam Bondi bribe represents about 0.1% of all the heinous things that Trump has done in his checkered business career.
And I'm sure that Clinton's people know all about it. But I haven't seen a big variety of Trump malfeasance episodes in ads, at least not yet. Maybe it's coming soon.

What she needs to be saving up is the juiciest reasons to vote FOR her beyond just "Trump Bad/Hillary Good".
Everyone knows the reasons Trump sucks and is a con artist. Those on the fence want reasons to be FOR Hillary. She's got to start giving in to them in clear and concise terms and language.

(13,305 posts)...those people already know if they like or don't like Trump. They need reasons to get out there and vote FOR Hillary.

(13,305 posts)When people are looking for a reason to vote for someone, telling them the media sucks is really going to motivate them to get off their couches, out the door and to their voting locations.

(5,045 posts)You know nothing about me. You don't know how much I donate to the Democratic Party: nationally, state wide, and locally. BTW - it's plenty. You don't know how many doors I knock on, how many phone calls I make, or how many local democratic meetings I attend.
Do me a favor and take your snark somewhere else. I know how much I'm contributing to electing Hillary Clinton and you don't.

I'm not saying this is right or good but voters need to be spoon fed. If candidates choose not to do this and they lose, then bitching about how uninformed the American public is or the media or whatever else won't do a damn thing to change that.
The game has been played like this and set up this way for the better part of 30 years now, if not longer. There is no excuse for candidates not knowing this and adapting their strategies accordingly. If they don't want to that's fine but then they'll be complaining about it from their homes and not the White House.

(47,376 posts)very strategic. There are so many real Trump "scandals", it would be ineffective to dump them all on the public in a short period of time. People would become immune to them and the Clinton camp would look too negative. A gradual, but escalating approach would probably be best, as long as it was offset with what Hillary's plans and policies are.
Perhaps some of this will be left to super-pacs though.

(6,551 posts)It's time to hit Trump with everything they have to convince the public that he's completely corrupt which is a characteristic that the media has been successful in tagging Clinton with.
If we lose this election, look to the media's complete irresponsibility in informing the public about Trump's corruption.

So, a smart campaign holds back on its big revelations until after that holiday. The Pam Bondi scandal is just now becoming news for exactly that reason.
We'll see more bad news for Trump as the campaign progresses. Oh, yes, we will.

The good news? At least I hope it's true that they will start with the issue oriented, positive ads along with the attack ads.

As for Hillary Rodham Clinton, I thought I knew her, I already admired her, and we were both blown away to realize that she made Bill Clinton governor the second time (he was not re-elected the first time), and she probably made him president. Someone from the Arkansas days said, "Bill Clinton is smart -- but Hillary is smarter."
She is amazing, and what she learns she never forgets.

(9,148 posts)I feel the same way about the remarkable life of Hillary Clinton.
Her win on Nov 8th will devastate the RW and everything they stand for. That is a necessary thing in the evolution to a more functioning society.
Hillary has been doing exactly this, forever.
She will be a great President.

(35,773 posts)She did not keep a lot of the people for 2008. This team knows how to run a campaign.
I hope.
