One that will call him out.

Like..."List 5 things Putin has done that you admire."

Lester Holt will moderate the first debate on September 26. CNN's Anderson Cooper and ABC's Martha Raddatz will co-moderate the second debate on October 9. Fox News host Chris Wallace will moderate the final presidential debate on October 19.

We would all like to believe that the public catcalls and scathing media criticisms that followed Matt Lauer's calamitous role as the host of the C in C forum, upped the ante for the moderators of the presidential debate moderators. Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. Today's new journalistic ethos can be summed up in a word; stenography.

Look at Chuck Todd, who has already said that when it comes to lies and misinformation, pointing out Republican fabrications isn't his job and the public shouldn't expect celebrity journalists like him to correct the record. Note that Chuck Todd is NBC News’ political director and he's in charge, he's also the political analyst for Nightly News with Lester Holt and the Today Show, that brought us Matt Lauer's jaw dropping performance in the C in C forum. Todd is responsible for all aspects of the network’s political programming, so why would we expect that the directions given to the first debate moderator, Lester Holt, will be any different than the gameplan handed out to the lamentable Matt Lauer in giving Trump free rein to lie at will?

Then we have Chris Wallace who has already said that he won't fact-check candidates because "it's not my job to be a truth squad." That's pretty much been the whole Fox News mantra, at least when it comes to puffing up Republicans.

That leaves Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz, and I can only hope that they are more like the former CNN anchor Candy Crowley who memorably fact-checked Mitt Romney in the debate with Obama, than either Chuck Todd or Chris Wallace.

It is maddening. Yes...idiot, your job as a journalist and a moderator is in fact, to control the flow of the debate and make sure that the participants play by the rules.

I don't think that the moderator should explicitly call people out for lying. That is the job of each opponent. The moderator certainly should step in when the candidate is not answering the question asked or when the candidate is filibustering, both of which Trump does regularly. The moderator can also clarify when there is no evidence for a candidate's assertions.

Wallace is a particularly shoddy reporter. Cooper and Raddatz may be slightly better. We shall see.

He won't hesitate to call Trump out when he lies. He also does NOT like Pam Bondi at all and you can bet he will be asking about Trump's bribe.
