Donald Trump is the epitome of white male privilege in this country.
He was born on third base but acts like he hit a home run. Though he lives in a three story guilded high rise penthouse, with doormen and butlers to satisfy his every whim, his soul is empty, and therefore, he'll never be satisfied no matter how much he has. The Presidency of the United States of America is not just another stepping stone for a man-child who has grown bored of his current set of playtoys. It is the symbol of our nation's leadership and what we represent as a nation, which is why Trump must be soundly defeated.
But I have to say, first and foremost, that the white males that make up Trump's base should be embarrassed by this man representing them. Instead of cheering him on, I would think that they would be angry at him for making them look foolish. His base are people who have played by the rules but based on circumstances beyond their control, find themselves struggling at a stage in life when they thought things would be different.
Trump's base, like the media, is grading Trump on a curve which is ridiculous. What they should be grading him on is a handicap based on where he started in life and where he is at presently.
Trump is an absolute fool who doesn't know, what he doesn't know. He doesn't play by the same set of rules that you and I, and the rest of society have to play by, specifically, the Golden Rule. You know the one, "Do unto others as you would have done unto you." No. Trump lives by the Rule, "Do unto others, before they can do unto you." He constantly reminds us all that he went to the best schools and the Wharton School of Business. And he's managed to learn something about the construction industry. But everything I see about him and hear Trump say, tells me that if I took 10 people at random and give them the same starting point as Trump, that is a millionaire father and a first class education at some of the best schools in the country, why do I keep coming to the same conclusion that Trump would come in 10th place, not first.
Trump's biggest shortcoming is that he lacks character, and because he has no character he will always be a loser. He might live large, but he's still a two-bit con artist, who cheats people who have much less than he has, with no sense of remorse. I think he would steal from his mother, and probably has done so at some point in his priviledged life.
The man is running for president and cannot complete a coherent sentence, EVER. Which says to me, that he might have gone to the finest schools, but it appears that he was either AWOL when the learning was going on, OR his is knowledge-intolerant in that his brain cannot absorb and systematically process information. Every thing that comes out of his mouth is word salad.
The man is a compulsive liar who lies about absolutely everything, even when there is no reason to lie. Lying is an addiction for him.
He is in debt to Russian oligarchs and to the Chinese, in spite of his denials to the contrary. This is why he will never release his tax returns.
He robs charities by collecting money from third parties in the name of his "Charitable Foundation" but holds on to it for personal gain until he has to give it up. There has to be a special place in hell for someone who would steal in the name of the less fortunate.
He weaves charitable contributions deductions out of whole cloth. A Washington Post reporter took on the task of tracking a listing of Trumps claimed charitable contributions to their source and to their destinations, and the result for the vast majority of it was either made up or grossly exaggerated.
He has been married three times. He has bragged about relationships with women and affairs. The most honest thing he has ever said was when complimented about having great kids is that his kids mothers' are responsible for raising them well.
Trump likes to label his rivals with unflattering nicknames such as "Crooked Hillary, and "Lying Ted" but the truth is his character deficit is is much worse than anyone else he tries to cast aspersions upon, but his ego will not allow him to see this. But our ego must not let a con man anywhere near the White House. I live in a community predominately inhabited by conservatives. I take every opportunity to let my neighbors and community know what a con man this guy is. Most people on DU assume that the population as a whole knows as much as you do. I take pride in letting strangers i meet in line at the grocery store and elsewhere, know everything I know about this con man and would encourage others here to as well. The luxury we have is that we don't have to exaggerate Trumps shortcomings.
