So excited! I'm hosting a campaign staffer in my home from tomorrow thru 11/12.

He's currently en route from New York - driving here to Florida. I had no idea how easy it is - all they need is a shower, a bed or couch, and a place to park their car. They work outside your home 7 days a week, 15 hours a day, and all their meals are eaten away from home too.

Yay me!

do their laundry at your house. Also, I always keep beer in the refrigerator for them.

Have fun.

in case they want it.

I also put a basket of snacks like chips, power bars, Belvita, Snickers and Animal Crackers in their room.

You will find that they pay no attention to the daily minutiae because they simply don't have time. They don't know/care what is happening in the polls, social media, MSM, or even DU as they are very very focused on one thing, getting Hillary elected.

One other thing - I always let them know in advance if it is okay to have over-night guests. I allow with some restrictions like... let me know when you have a guest and don't let them park behind my car in the driveway.

energy bars. Years ago I tried keeping figs, raisins, carrots and celery around for them but mostly they went for the junk.

I then decided that although I was old enough to be their grandmother I was just not going to worry about their snack choices.

we have a new security company, and the guy is totally clueless, so I figured I'd grab one now before they start asking too many questions.

I have worked on several campaigns and have had gracious hosts on many occasions.

8. Do they ever have any downtime? I know this election is super critical, but don't they get breaks?

But I used to love the 24/7 high octane pace.

12. It feels great to be doing something to help. I don't think I could live with myself if I didn't.

18. We have our second staffer now

Had one in 2012 too.

In addition to the great suggestions already made I'd only add that our staffers have had almost no time to do laundry so I offer to do theirs. Our laundry room is right next to our bedroom and we didn't want to dryer buzzer going off at 3 in the morning, especially since the staffer's bedroom is in the basement, down two levels.

I'm also taking in lunch for the office once a week. These kids have almost no time for anything and left to their own devices eat fast food so I bring in a healthy meal, home made tacos, veggie lasagna, brisket last week. I have a couple other meals I rotate through and make enough for about 10-12. If there are leftovers they get eaten for dinner.

You might ask your staffer to put "food" as a category for volunteer sign up sheets. In addition to meals people can offer to bring in snacks or desserts or cases of bottled water for canvassers.

19. Unfortunately, there is no office here. We're considered rural, so he'll be working out of Starbucks

and the like (WiFi), but I'll definitely see what I can do food-wise and with his laundry. I've already found out what beer and fruit he likes, so I'm making some headway. Thanks for the additional information!
